With Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB) you’ll discover a broader range of music, debate and ideas, all in crystal clear digital sound.
Many extra stations are available with DAB radio

Ease-Of-Use
Digital radios are much easier to use than analogue radios because they automatically search for all available stations. Once the radio has found all the available stations you just choose the one you want by name. No more trying to remember frequencies.

Wider Station Choice
With up to 55 DAB stations available in many areas, and more on the way, you’ll be spoilt for choice. As well as existing favourites like BBC radios 1-4, BBC radio 5 live, Classic FM and talkSPORT, there are also great exclusive-to-digital stations such as BBC 1Xtra, BBC 5 live Sports Extra, BBC 6 Music, BBC 7 and Planet Rock.

Digital Sound Quality
DAB is crackle-clear and hiss-free because it’s not subject to the same interference as analogue radio.

DAB Stations
There's more listening choice on DAB too. These great stations and many more are available in the UK on DAB digital radio. As DAB coverage varies, remember to check which stations are available in your area.

This is my first DAB radio so I cannot compare the sound with others but I am happy with the sound and feel of the unit.

Problem 1: The audio settings are lost every time you switch the radio off and on again. The diplay shows the settings from last time but the sound doesn't reflect the settings. I called PURE and they admitted straight away that this is a software error and they were looking to release a software udpate but couldn't say when (or if ever).

Problem 2: The lowest volume level is not low enough. The difference between mute and the first volume level is quite big and this makes for uncomfortable listening at night.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lower level of reception 7 Feb 2010
The Classic ONE radio has a lower level of sensitivity than the previous (ie original) ONE radio. I already own an original ONE radio and the new Classic ONE model fails to pick up DAB signals even when placed on the same table as the original ONE radio which works perfectly. I have been informed by the Pure Technical Support that the new model IS less sensitive than the original model. I find this reduction in quality totally unacceptable and is opportunistic profiteering. Tell the shop/Amazon that you want to try the performance of this radio in its intended location before the return period expires. Andy

    5.0 out of 5 stars A good radio 4 Jan 2009
The Pure One Classic is my first DAB radio. I bought it from Amazon to replace my old Sony portable whose rechargeable batteries forever need changing, frustratingly just when I'm listening to something special! I also bought the Pure ChargePAK which fits inside a compartment in the back of the radio. It costs not much more than 2 sets of 4 rechargeable AA batteries and a charger. Fantastically it recharges whenever the radio is connected to the mains even when the radio is turned off so I keep the radio connected to the mains and simply pull out the plug at the back of the radio when I want to use it as a portable in the bathroom or shed etc.
The on/off button is the medium size button bottom right in the photo. The large knob is the volume knob.
To select or set the functions of the radio one simply presses one of the small silver buttons surrounding the large central knob then turn the large central knob clockwise to scroll through the options of that particular button. To select the required option just press the large central knob inwards. - Dead easy!
The reception is good both in DAB and FM and the sound quality is really good especially when the bass and treble are tweaked to taste. The written instructions are good and clear. I enjoy the scrolling text advising of the current programme.
I chose the white colour option which fits in very comfortably in the bathroom, kitchen and bedroom - much better than black. It also has a kitchen timer, an alarm function and a socket for playing an MP3 player although I haven't used these yet.

I find myself listening to this radio much, much more than previously (I'm listening to it now in the background while I'm typing this) and without fear of the batteries running out. I really enjoy this radio. It is a November 2008 Which? magazine Best Buy so you can't really go wrong. I recommend it.
