Brilliant even in our reception blackspot!,

This review is from: PURE Elan DX40, Portable Stereo DAB/FM Radio (Electronics)
I read all the reviews before deciding on this DAB radio for my husband's birthday. Because we live in a reception blackspot which affects mobile phones and TV reception, I was half expecting it not to be able to pick anything up but my husband has been enthusing about the sound quality and number of channels he can receive. Availability of a rechargeable battery pack, which I also bought, was the deciding factor for me as other reviews suggest this type of radio eats batteries so it seemed like a worthwhile investment. However, Hubby is happy with using it on mains power until I get round to reading the instruction booklet. He managed without but tells me there is a clock and presets for me to set up too.

Great value - clear reception!,

We bought this to replace a radio that was getting on our nerves - crackling and fading in and out wherever we placed it. This one is a great improvement and looks nice too. No more problems with getting a clear signal and extremely good value I thought!

Good Radio but dodgy power lead,

This review is from: PURE Elan DX40, Portable Stereo DAB/FM Radio (Electronics)
I received this as a gift a few years back and although it's been a good radio the power lead and battery compartment are both extremely annoying. The socket for the power failed on both of the Pure Elans I have owned. I took one back after a few months and the shop replaced it but the same thing happened a few months later. I should have taken it back again but lost my patience and instead wrapped the power lead aroud the ariel to hold it taught and in a position that would power the unit. Also the batteries fall out of the battery holder.
I am going to buy a new DAB radio and I was surprised that this model was still available. Going to go for a different pure model or a Sony model. Have seen mention of power issues on other reviews of other Pure radios which is a shame because they are good bar the fundamental power supply issue.
