Bought this last year to use on my Windows Vista machine whilst away at relatives - worked a treat and whilst I don't download music etc I was surprised how long the £10 top-up lasts. Later rejigged my machine to boot into Ubuntu and it would not work on this Linux distro. BUT upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 and downloaded the new firmware from "3"'s site and it works perfectly.
I live in a small village miles from anywhere and can get an acceptable signal - obviously it's wise to check signal strength on the 3 site (where you are likely to use it) before purchasing.

Verified Purchase
I am not the most technical person on the planet but when I bought this to access the Internet whilst visiting elderly relatives who did not have broadband I expected it to have a sim card in it....especially as it is labeled "3" so I thought it would be already loaded for that network. I had to wait until I could get to an outlet to buy a card and load it with access .Maybe others would know this but if you are not a technical geek (like me)and you are going somewhere "in the outback" make sure you get a card and load it before you go.
