We bought this dehumidifier for use either in storage areas or the bedroom, where our other compressor-based unit would have been too noisy. As such, it has proved quite effective and we have no trouble sleeping with it running. Of course, the extraction rate is a great deal less than for our other dehumidifier but this was to be expected with a Peltier unit. So far, the unit is performing well and we are pleased with it.
One note of caution, though - please be aware that not all of the specifications for this model on the manufacturer's web site are correct. If you go by the information supplied either by Amazon or the distributor, DirectSales (very prompt delivery!), you'll be fine. However, if, like I did, you decide to go to Prem-I-Air's web site for further specifications you may be misled. Here are the differences I spotted:
a) Variable Humidity Control - the appliance only has an on/off switch.
b) Rotary Switch Controls - the appliance has no such thing.
c) Electronic Controls - the appliance has no such thing.
d) Refrigerant Charge: R134a - the appliance is Peltier-based and has no refrigerant.
These differences may not bother you too much, but I specifically chose this model because of the Variable Humidity Control and was disappointed to find only an on/off switch. I have contacted Prem-I-Air and DirectSales to point this out. So far, I have had no response from Prem-I-Air and the information on their web site is still incorrect at the time of writing. DirectSales have, to their credit, responded to all of my queries and told me that they have asked Prem-I-Air to correct their published information.
