PREDATOR Series 9 Jungle Encounter Dutch 12 Jun. 2013
By Graham Swearingen - Published on Amazon.com
Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
This is Jungle Encounter Dutch from Predator. Probably the most iconic image for the entire film is Dutch in his black vest with no shirt, seen here. Arnold in this particular outfit is only in the movie for a few scenes and a handful of shots, but since it was used for the movie poster and home video release cover, this is probably the most recognized image of Predator aside from the Predator itself. The camo paint on Dutch's face has a translucent wash to it, not to mention the plastic they used with the head sculpt and chest for this figure. NECA used some sort of translucent plastic to give the figure a more skin like look, which makes it look like a life like Wax Museum figure. It's just an impressive figure. Very realistic looking. His arms, face and chest are less dirty looking than the Jungle Patrol Dutch figure from NECA Predator series 8 wave that just came out in March. The sculpt by Kyle Windrix, David Silva and Alex Heinke is so well executed, these talented guys brought the most iconic image of the Predator to life with this figure. The paint by Jon Wardell and Geoffrey Trapp is spot on, the camo pants, the flesh tones in the torso and the stubble on Dutch's face is impeccable. Job well done.

The figure comes with a small knife, a pistol (both of which have holsters on the figure so he can carry them on his persons) and an M-16 with grenade launcher. All of these accessories are movie accurate, the paint detail on the M-16 is great, has a metallic wash paint on it to simulate wear and tear and scuffs and scratches on the metal. The other accessories are a bit more flat and plain. The camo pants and black vest look great, good detail for the camo pants. The boots look great, his hair looks great. Really the only other weak points for the paint job other than the pistol and knife, are Dutch's eyes which are basically just black paint spots with no color. Minor complaints really. My only real one true complaint is the card the figure is blistered to. I realize it's keeping in line with all of the other 7 series that have been done so far, but to me the card is a bit plain. A somewhat generic side profile of a Predator and some jungle vegetation. I personally would prefer a more 1980's looking design, or a more movie poster type look to the card. Then again, I think I am only one of a few who actually cares about the design of cards that figures are blistered to. An aesthetic that I think has been grossly overlooked in the last 15 years of action figure production.

The articulation is also brilliant, granted I never take my figures out of the package, you can tell the figure has great articulation. Ball jointed head, wrists, ankles. A socket waist just like old G.I. Joe figures for max flexibility for the torso, ball jointed hips and hinged knees and shoulders. Other cool details are facial stubble, and wrist watch. This figure is just brilliant, I really can't praise it enough. Any fan or collector of action figures really needs to get one of these for his collection, any fan of Predator needs this figure. Granted Arnold only spends about 10 minutes and a handful of scenes in this outfit, it's an essential figure for this movie franchise. I am curious to see if and what series 10 will be. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Free Arnold! 30 Jun. 2013
By Enjolras - Published on Amazon.com
When I was younger, I read a book called The Indian in the Cupboard in which a magical cupboard could make toys come to life. I was surprised to find out that NECA also apparently has such a cupboard that can shrink real people down into action figures. Apparently, somebody at NECA captured Arnold Schwarzenegger, dressed him up as he appeared in Predator, and forced him into the cupboard. NECA then put Arnold in a little plastic bubble and shipped him to my house.

You can imagine my horror when I opened this box. I thought I was getting an action figure based on the character Dutch from Predator. I didn't think I'd actually get Arnold himself. I understand that some people might be upset at Arnold because he had an affair and an illegitimate child. However, that's no reason to condemn the man to live the rest of his life as an action figure. If I were a better person, I'd try to find a way to free Arnold. But I'm not. Arnold happens to be just the right size for my NECA Predator figures so I'm keeping him on my shelf.

I noticed that NECA cloned Arnold and is now selling more of these as "figures". Don't be fooled - this isn't an action figure, it's a miniaturized version of Arnold himself! If your conscience is not bothered by owning a real person shrunk down to 6 inches, then by all means get this. But be warned - every once in a while you'll swear that Arnold's beady eyes are looking at you in contempt, as if he's about to say, "Who the f*** are you?"

One of the Top 10 Action Figures of the Modern Day 7 Nov. 2013
By mekaneck - Published on Amazon.com
Maybe one of the BEST ACTION FIGURES like ever. no really, this is a definitive Action Figure. even if your a total broom head and don't know who Arnold is and how crucial Predator is, you can still pick up this figure and will be inspired to pose it shooting his guns or slashing his knife, this figure rules, and NECA's flawless articulation scheme allows it to pose like butter through your pancakes!

Best figure of 2013 & best figure of Arnold! Realistic detail down to his nipples & full articulation. Buy now if you still can! 31 Mar. 2014

This figure was easily one of the best figures of 2013. Sadly, NECA only made this figure in limited quantities and it is now sold out at a vast majority of the retail stores. Those fortunate enough to purchase this figure when it was released in Summer 2013 will be happy know that this figure is steadily increasing in price due to the demand of any figure pertaining to Arnold Schwarzenegger. You would be shocked if you saw what it sells for at the booths in my annual comic book collector's show.

The figure itself is both realistic and human-like, boasting numerous points of articulation and a paint application one would expect to find on an expensive 12-inch Hot Toys collectible figure. Ironically, this figure stands at roughly 7 inches and true to scale according to NECA's universe. For example, Dutch (Arnold) is taller than NECA's Rambo (Stallone) figure, which was also released last summer. In real life, Stallone is shorter than Arnold.

This version of Dutch includes an M-16 and a pistol and survival knife which can be removed from the holster and sheath. Dutch's vest can be removed for an entirely shirtless look, by simply tilting his arms upward and pulling the vest up and over his head. NECA also demonstrated accuracy by correctly sculpting and coloring the nipples on Arnold's defined chest.
The figure represents Arnold in his prime and takes me back to the days of quality action films such as Predator, The Running Man, Conan The Barbarian, Total Recall, The Raw Deal and Terminator.

If you have an opportunity to purchase this figure, buy it before the prices go up even higher as they have done with NECA's Conan The Barbarian and Terminator figures!

Missed the Series 8 Dutch encounter but Series 9 came with a Bang !! 12 Aug. 2013

says 20 points of articulation so Im sure its pose-able and the details again are brilliant ( esp the camo army trousers)and sculpt looks like ARNOLD !!! terrific one since i did not buy the series 8 Dutch , and so when i wanted to buy a Dutch figure, the series 9 came out and yes I got this one !! the body skin color isnt as tanned as the series 8 Dutch and no gloves on the hands , but the black vest is cool and removable as seen in one review made on youtube ( takes much effort though ). Neca shld have made some change in this Series .. like included an extra set of hands ( left and right with gloves so we can pose the figure holding the accessories in both hands as an option ) and it wudnt have cost them any dent/hole in their pockets ... but alas NECA is stingy these days. This is still a great figure , nothing new if you already have the Dutch encounter series 8,( thats why if they had included extra set o hands then Fans had reason to buy this for more options to use them on the three figures of Dutch encounter)
