Product Description

Product Description

Strength. Lightness. Beauty. Seamlessly integrated.

MacBook Pro is machined from a single piece of aluminium, an engineering breakthrough that replaced many parts with just one. It’s called the unibody. And the first time you pick up a MacBook Pro, you’ll notice the difference it makes. The entire enclosure is thinner and lighter than other notebooks. It looks polished and refined. And it feels strong and durable — perfect for life inside (and outside) your briefcase or backpack.

Everything Apple designers and engineers do, they do for a reason. They chose LED backlight technology for the MacBook Pro because it makes the display instantly bright and allows it to be incredibly thin. They used edge-to-edge glass not just because it looks beautiful, but because it lends structure to the display. And at the top of the screen, they hid the new built-in FaceTime HD camera. So you see your friends and family in big, beautiful widescreen — and as little of the camera as possible.

The Multi-Touch trackpad has no button because it is the button. That means there’s more room to track and more room to click — left, right, centre and everywhere in between. Apple designers and engineers spent countless hours considering things like sensitivity (how much pressure triggers a click?), audio feedback (what does the click sound like?) and friction over the smooth glass surface (what does it feel like?). The result is a trackpad that just makes sense to you — and your fingers.

Easy access to connections and ports.

The connections and ports on MacBook Pro — MagSafe power, Gigabit Ethernet, Thunderbolt, USB, SDXC and audio in/out — are all smartly integrated on the same side of the notebook. So your cables stay neatly organised, and connecting and disconnecting your devices is easy and convenient.

Thunderbolt Port

Thunderbolt lets you connect high-performance devices and high-resolution displays to a single compact port. It even supports Mini DisplayPort devices — such as your Apple LED Cinema Display or an HDMI adapter for your television.

Designed to make an impact. Just not on the environment.

Complete control over how the MacBook Pro is designed, how it’s manufactured and how it’s packaged gives Apple an environmental edge. LED backlight technology preserves energy. Glass and aluminium are highly recyclable. MacBook Pro is free of most harmful toxins. And the 17-inch model ships in packaging that’s 34 per cent smaller than the original, while the packaging for the 13-inch model is 41 per cent smaller. That means fewer trees used for boxes and fewer planes, trains and lorries used for transport.

Having already got an iMac from a couple of years back, it seemed like normal progression to update to a beefy Apple laptop. My mind was split between portability or power and I thought that by going for the 17 incher then the first would be compromised. Granted, it's much bigger than its smaller brothers, but actually, I think I've managed to get both.

There is no disputing it is an absolute powerhouse of a machine and manages to keep up with all my video editing, image editing and goodness knows what I throw at it.

Ever since the purchase of my iMac I have become a definite Apple champion and will never, ever, be going back to a Windows-based machine. Oh, and if you think Android is the way forward, granted Apple's gear costs that little bit more, but at least you know both the hardware and the software have been built with durability and style in mind, and because of those things, it is built to last and does exactly what you want it to do first time.

Windows loading screens in my house are most definitely a thing of the past!

I've always wanted the 17" MacBook Pro but three years ago I could afford only the 13" MacBook Pro. This has given me every satisfaction with no problems whatsoever. Now that I can afford the 17" I found that they have been discontinued. However, they are still around and I got one through Amazon. Not cheap, but worth every penny. For their trouble-free ease of use also read the other reviews, it's absolutely beautiful. I do have a 27" iMac desktop giving equal pleasure but I could happily use just the 17" MacBook Pro. As an indication of my enthusiasm I've now ordered another 17" MacBook Pro from Amazon before brand-new ones finally disappear.

Why have I used PCs for so many years???
My first Mac and what a device...so so simple...so quick..and no registry! This netbook works like a dream, and have bought iPads and iPhones to make the most of integration.Using a Mac has put the simplicity back into using a computer...it feels as if the book is working for me..not trying to add complications!

Made the brave decision to move to a Mac. I worried that changing operating systems would be difficult, thus having a negative impact on my business, but that hasn't proved to be the case. Very sturdy machine, large, excellent monitor. Glad I parted company with Microsoft.

What can I say? Once you go Mac, you never go back! It's true, up until a few years ago I was a dedicated PC user but suffered at the hands of crashes and other messing around that I was tired of it all. My boyfriend had an iMac and I was very impressed so he bought me a MacBook as a Valentine's day present last year. It just worked right out of the box. Nothing staggers, stammers or crashes. Updates happen and don't hang you up for hours. No virus scanning going on all the time in the background either. I wanted something larger than my MacBook so I decided on the 17" MacBook Pro and it's amazing. Fast, quiet, and plays games at high speed too with little more than a whirr and some slight warmth. We keep my 'old' Acer 17" widescreen blu ray laptop in the cupboard in case we need to use an application missing from our Macs but it tends to gather dust. We have 2 iMacs [1 is 3 years old and updates beautifully and looks new and the other was bought for my daughter this Christmas so IS new] and 3 MacBooks as well as this machine between us. I guess you could say we are complete Mac-heads in this family but.... really they work wonderfully well and they look beautiful too. If I look at what I paid for the top of the range Acer this MacBook compares very favourably and does a much better job. Normally I purchase direct from Apple but when I saw this deal how could I resist?
