The ultimate test of a gadget is whether you use it beyond a few weeks. Six months after getting the red Powerbreathe I am still doing the exercise twice a day (it takes about a minute to do the 30 breaths). It has taken me those six months to get from level 1 to level 5 - you really need to spend time getting comfortable at each level. It is "weight training" for the lungs and my breathing is deeper and stronger. I have less breathyness when running and run more confidently. I am not any sort of serious runner - just for fitness - but it has taken nearly 10% off my times over 2 and 4 km. If you are serious about your sport then this is probably a good investment.

Thought about buying one of these for a long time. When the price dropped to a more reasonable level, I decided to treat myself for my 60th birthday. I have trained most of my life, gym, tri/marathons,rowing and cycling. After four weeks the results are amazing. Best investment after the smith machine for my gym!

To put you in the picture I'm an ex smokers and in January 09 took up running to keep fit. In the summer of that year I started entering the occasional event. My running times were gradually getting better over the course of time.
This year I entered a 5 mile race and ran it cutting 3 mins off my previous personal best. At the end of that race I could hardly breathe. I knew that my years of smoking had taken their toll but wasn't prepared to let it beat me.
I read the reviews and decided to invest. I have to say I have just completed a 10k race knocking 30 seconds off my previous personal best after using the Power Breathe for just 4 weeks. My breathing at the end of the race was far easier, in fact, in the last mile I was holding a conversation with a fellow competitor, that I wouldn't have been able to do previously. All I need now is something to improve the power in my legs!
