That was the offer that I turned down two years ago. Truthfully, I had forgotten about it until now. Now I was naked and chained up in the middle of a summoning circle, after getting bit by a freaking vampire.
The Divine were the Angels and Demons and their offspring. The Divine’s power or Divine Current was filtered through what was known as the Divine Conduit. Capacity for power was based on one’s current and the capacity to withstand Holy items or Holy ground depended on ones Conduit.
Shape Shifters were offspring from the Divine and animals. Lycans were created from an infection from the offspring of a Demon and a Demon.
Procreation between Divine Beings was rare. And the handful of the Divine that had throughout the millennia beat the 99.9 percent odds of procreation with another Divine Being ALWAYS produced abominations. Vampires, the result of the union of two Demons, were such abominations. And while the abomination is thought to be long gone, the infection it possessed multiplied at an impossible rate. Elementals were the result of two Angels.
Divine Being, Angel, Fallen, or Demon were able to procreate with other species. Creating Dragons, Phoenix, Mera and other beings, long thought to be only mythical.
My Sparks, what I called the Divine Current, had not worked since I stepped foot into Sangria's to see Reece aka Ms. Skyye Chance perform. That meant that the Las Vegas vamps had somehow gotten their hands on a Faith protection spell.
I was also cut off from my Divine guardians, Bob, a Guardian Angel and Gregori, a Demon Lord. They were opposite sides of the same coin.
QASE, an international medical research company, had recently announced the discovery of the genetic DNA sequence responsible for the human psychic experience. They had dubbed it, the Lilith gene.
Oh, and I was pretty sure that the reason my Las Vegas hotel room had been upgraded to the Grand by my former friend was because, Vive LeMorte, the hotel where he had me staying at first, was currently the site of an ongoing international missing persons ring. Really? Who books a room at a place called Vive LeMorte and thinks it is going to be Disneyland?
