I recently replaced my old Polti steam cleaner, obviously I was pleased with the previous one bought many years ago.
Unfortunately the steam gun part of this one ceased to work and the white safety clip on the extension pipe broke and I cannot get a replacement from Polti for love nor money. Polti are unhelpful, they tell me the parts are only guaranteed for 28 days, one person told me that they were no longer available, another in their parts department took an order from me but Polti cancelled it without consulting me. I have told them that I am prepared to pay for the part, eventhough by the terms of the agreement they should replace it. I am also told that they do not have a costumer service department and feel that it is perfectly in order to cancell an order and not tell the person.
Has anybody else faced problems like this ?, or have any idea on where I can get a replacement part that will enable me to use the £200+ piece of equipment now redundant as a cleaner.

My husband kindly bought me my first Polti 2 weeks ago. I have been steam cleaning for around 8 years now and loved all my steam cleaners but this is in a different league. I have cleaned my bathroom, including ceramic tiles, bath, porcelain sink and toilet bowl, vinyl floor tiles, windows and upvc window frames. Have cleaned the kitchen, including glass hob, double oven, porcelain sink and drainer, worktops, cupboards inside and out, fridge, freezer, dustbin table and vinyl floor. I then attacked the bedroom. Dusted every surface with it. Oak wardrobes, spray steam over wardrobes and units from about 8 inches away, the steam is not so hot at that distance then just boff over with a microfibre cloth. The bed was steam cleaned too, matress, headboard, divan bottom, pillows and duvet. Nothing was wet or damp, everything smells fresh and it is not hard work at all. The only products you need in your home are washing up liquid or dishwasher tablets or powder. All the cloths go in the washing machine on a hot wash with washing liquid or wash balls, do not use fabric softener as this stops the cloths absorbing and could leave streaks on surfaces.
This model comes with an iron which attaches to the steam unit. It really did cut my ironing down by at least half. Fold a duvet cover in half and iron only one surface, it really does work. I also ironed a lot of things on the hanger with just steam, again creases just fall out. I am actually looking forward to ironing again.

I chose this particular kit because I had large areas to steam clean after building work, and it was recommended by Asthma Uk as being being effective in killing house dust mite.The tank is alrge enough to use for a long time but not too heavy to move around. It's revived all my floors and furnishings and I would recommend this product unreservedly. However, the iron is not very effective and as the tank is too big to put on the ironing board, cumbersome to use, so if I was making the purchse again I would not choose the kit, just the steam cleaner.
