Product Description
Converts a digital audio optical signal to a single digital coaxial signal.
Connects to the TOSLink output of the source equipment such as a TV/DVD/Cable/Satellite/Freeview/Games console etc. and to the DIGITAL COAXIAL INPUT of the AV receiver/Home cinema system etc..
Note: The coaxial output of the converter connects to a DIGITAL COAXIAL INPUT of the AV receiver/home cinema etc. - not the analogue stereo L/R (red & white) inputs.
No audio leads are supplied you will need to purchase these separately.
You will need 1 x TOSLink cable and 1 x Digital coaxial cable.

Have used the converter to connect my Sky HD box via the optical output to the coax digital input on my Philips Ambisound Home Theatre System. It works perfectly with the Home Theatre System instantly registering 5.1 multisound broadcasts against 2.0 stereo broadcasts. A great solution for those frustrated with Sky not fitting digital coax outputs on their HD boxes (yet?) or not having optical inputs on their Home Theatre Systems.

Bought this one a couple of months back and it's going really well. I am using it to connect my Samsung TV optical out to Logitech 5.1 speaker system co-axial in.

Great little converter. I bought this because I am already using up the optical in on my amp and only other digital input was the coax in. Someone told me that it might convert Dolby Digital streams to PCM but that is not the case. It retains the original digital stream. There is a small power adaptor that plugs into the side so be sure to factor in an additional wall socket. Overall works very good and well priced.

works but socket broke
Yes it does what is should, but as I used it to alternately plug in either the optical out from Sky or from Xbox then after a while the toslink socket broke. Read more
