    I have used this device so far with Windows XP, Windows 2000 and Windows ME on PCs with USB 2 and USB 1 ports, and it works fine.

    There is a little LED inside the transparent green plastic case that lights when the device is being accessed.

    The device also has a two-piece grey plastic cover which slides off (although I usually only bother removing the end that covers the USB plug). This cover looks and feels flimsy.

    Basically, it does the job, is compact and was the cheapest 512 Mb device I could find at the time.

    However, the small PCB (printed circuit board) is smaller than the tranparent green plastic case. Two thin plastic pins inside the case hold the PCB in place at one end. These two pins recently broke due to continued pressure on the PCB when inserting the flash drive into a USB socket. I managed to repair it by cutting open the transparent green plastic case, putting a piece of Biro inside to hold the PCB in place, and gluing the case together again. The device still works, but beware: the design of the transparent green plastic case is too flimsy!

    I am very impressed with this product. Not only was it very competitve priced but is compact and good quality. I have bought a number of these items of other brands before and had trouble with the drivers- not with this one. I plugged it straight in and away it went. I would certainly buy more PNY products and at the price it is a great buy.

    I've only got one technical issue with this device: it came formatted using FAT. Presumably this was to maximize compatibility with a variety of operating systems. Certainly, I've used it successfully with both Win2K and SuSE Linux without trouble. As FAT is comparatively inefficient, I have since reformatted the device to FAT32, resulting in more efficient use of space. Cool.
