...hope that helps!
This card I can imagine gets slaughtered by many who think if it's not just come out and doesn't cost millions of [insert currency here] then it sucks, but this is such an ignorant way of thinking, and completely wrong. This card is an amazing card. Firstly, I didn't buy this card from Amazon, for some unusual reason I bought it from PC World at £125 online; yes, I know I'm crazy.
This card is very OC friendly and I've clocked mine to 950MHz (default 900MHz) on the core, 1900MHz on the shader, and 2120MHz on the memory, with no voltage increase needed. I'm fairly sure the core can go up to 998 with voltage increase, but I couldn't honestly get that to be stable with this card, so I gave it a miss.
I'm quite happy with this card; it's cool, fast, and functional. What can I play? Well, this card pretty much mauls any game on max with gorgeous FPS, with only rare exceptions like Just Cause 2, Skyrim, and Battlefield 3. The rest of my hardware is very decent, so it's not that. I play such games as follows at my native (max) resolution of 1600x900 with maximum settings and flawless FPS:
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (well beyond 60, usually over 100)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (well beyond 60, usually over 100)
Command & Conquer III: Tiberium Wars (the game is capped at 30FPS)
Assassin's Creed
Dead Space (needs v-sync and a controller, but works flawlessly)
Borderlands (need to turn off Dynamic Shadows for the best FPS, some reason. Seems like a commonly disabled setting)
Killing Floor (old engine and foundation, but flawless none-the-less)
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Dead Rising 2 (I turn off blur, but the rest is maxed and smooth, even with heaps of zombies and action)
Mass Effect 1/2 (beautifully crisp, even when enhanced via ini files and AA added using the nVidia CP)
Oblivion (old, but works perfectly maxed, once tweaked, since it's kind of a buggy game, same for...)
Fallout 3 (...this game, although this also can be tweaked and maxed, made to have a flawless 60FPS with v-sync)
Dawn of War II (ALMOST maxed, which is understandable, as when this game gets action packed, it can get demanding, otherwise totally flawless)
There are heaps and heaps and heaps of games on my rig and 99.9% of them run beautifully; please keep in mind that I'm very obsessive with my FPS and settings. I'm adamant about using 1600x900 wherever usable, since it's my native resolution, and I can rarely stand anything lower than 50FPS. My specs are at the end of the review.
The card is amazingly quiet, but just for kicks, you really should ramp up the fan to 100%; it's like a jet engine, as they say. I've tweaked my fan to kick in at different levels, since I overclocked it, I wanted to make sure I was getting optimal cooling without breaking the sound barrier.
When it comes to overclocking and changing the fan settings, you definitely need to see MSI Afterburner; I highly recommend it.
You can SLI this card and just to confirm, this card needs only ONE 6-pin PCI-E power cable, so make sure you either have that or 2 spare molex cables. The card maxes (default clocks) at a little over 200w, last I checked, so make sure you have an adequate power supply unit. The card will take up TWO lanes, so it's rather large; make sure you have the room. This card has an excellent cooling system that vents a lot of hot air from out the BACK of the case, as apposed to inside the case, like a lot of GPUs out there. The card is strong and doesn't feel cheap, IMO.
I generally recommend this card, but if you can, take a step up and get the 560Ti by ASUS or even better, the Twin Frozr by, I think, MSI, but they have much higher power requirements which can be a problem for some, like me.
