In this outing Hector Lynch and his friends are in the Pacific. Hector has fallen in love with Spanish girl, Maria, who was introduced in the previous story, Buccaneer. He is searching for her among the Pacific islands, as he believes she is to be located in a far flung Spanish outpost.
I have to say found this book the most enjoyable adventure so far. Hector and the lads come across many strange people and adventures as they cross the Pacific. The search for Maria, gives the plot added momentum, also.

Carries on in much the same vein as the first two books, but I have to say that it it not quite as engaging as its predecessors. It seemed to lack a small bit in substance in terms of the plot development and was slightly unbelievable in the way events led to the conclusion. Having said all that, not a bad read and I'd keep on at it if he writes another....

Another super yarn to continue the series of adventures of Hector Lynch. As with this series Tim Severin's historical notes give this book a basis that makes it more enjoyable. I thought this book had everything including romance, adventure, an insight into the horrors of sea going life and the real perils of high seas in ships of that time. Thoroughly recommended.
