This book is a brilliant reference book. If you want to see inside, go to amazon.com.
Don't be put off by the small size 15 x 23 x 1cm thick.
Very good quality paper, cream in colour, and very clear printing.
It covers most of the PHP functions you would probably ever want to use with a concise description and an example of its use.
Not for first time beginners, or those wanting to learn PHP.
You will need to know what you want to do in PHP, and have a reasonable idea of what the function might be.
So in short, it is a list of PHP functions sorted alphabetically in groups. Eg. Array functions, String functions, Date/Time functions etc.
The only down side is if a function has been depricated, it does not always tell you the alternative.
I find it far more helpfull than the official PHP reference found at php.net.

I am glad I purchased this book. It has almost all common PHP functions with a comprehensive index. The beauty about it is that it shows code output so you can have a feel of how a particular PHP snippet will look like in a browser after it's parsed. If you are programming and you cannot somehow remember the syntax of a 'foreach' loop, you can quickily look it up in this book. Each function has examples. The MySQL section is really good. A table is provided with SQL commands and their output, including 'Joints'. It has loads of examples. The output has a darker background, to make it stand out and is very readble.

It may not be a big deal though for advanced users since they may find it elemenatry,if they know ALL PHP functions by HEART! So I think there is something for everyone. I could not find MySQLI_CONNECT and that surprised me because the book is newer enough to include it. I move with it if I need to read something while on public transport or during TV commercials!

Highly recommended.

After buying this book i was delighted to open it. You can download it legally and for free from author website in PDF or pay and have it in book format. I rather the book format as it smaller than A4 size paper.

I am a new beginner to PHP and wanted a book i could turn to when i forget a function etc, well this book not only reminds, it is indexed perfectly and also gives explantaions on each function etc and explains in detail so you know if it the rite one you was looking for. I can find everything easy and simply, it also has MySQL which is perfect for me as i am currently making a website that connects to a MySQL database and it saves me looking on the dreaded internet to find what i need, now i simply flip open and get what i want, with an explanation on what it does and an example to show you how to write it etc.

I cannot highly recommend this book enough. I wish i could say i was happy with ten other books i bought that are rubbish, none of them help me learning php etc. But this one i a referenced hands on guide that would suite beginner or advanced expert user. It quickly reminds you what each one does but also gives an example and explanation.

Best PHP Book i have ever bought, and the cheapest aswell. It shows cheap is sometimes good.
