Autoscan worked straight away!!. Manual is easy to follow. Power everything off whilst connecting, then switch the power on your equipment i.e. TV/DVD/and the DTR2520/05. Autoscan will start on the screen and wait for it to complete.

Note; If you have an old style TV (one scart socket) you may (if applicable) find that you will have to press AV on your TV remote to see the freeview channels, then press AV again to view the standard analogue channels and vice versa.

If you know you live in a freeview area and your arial is modern mid or high gain, then you will have no problems with this unit and also, it is top up card optional. All in all no problems whatsoever with usage.

Absolutely no complaints about this box. Plugged it in and it immediately scanned to get the TV and Radio stations. Very good picture and I live in a vale where reception is normally not great.

I then subscribed to setanta sports and received a card. Put the card from setanta into the slot at the front of this freeview box and within 20 minutes I was watching the sports channel.

A friend of mine pay 4 times this for a freeview box with a card slot and picture and reception are no better than this box.

Due to changes by Top-up TV it is not longer possible to get a top up card for this freeview box as Top-Up TV have withdrawn their Top-Up service from all boxes except Thomson, which they sell on their own website. I have had to return my Philips box and buy a Thomson from Amazon to replace my first choice, no reflection on Amazon or Philips, Top-Up TV themselves have created this problem for would-be purchasers

Like the other reviewer below mentioned, if you like to flick through the channels with the bottom on screen display, while still watching the current channel, then do not buy this freeview box because it does not offer this functionality. The box is nice and small as is the remote. It has worked fine with setanta for me and set up was simple. Overall I think it is expensive for what you get, but I am a fan of Philips products so am happy to use this over the other lesser known brands.

Product easy to set up and looks good too. The only thing I didn't like was the amount of space the information took on the screen when switching channels. This information was set in huge blue lines which was offputting but other than that a great product for the price.

A very good digi box and it was a cheap option compared to some of the other ones you can get. if anyone was ever looking a digi box with a card slot i would recommend them to buy this box because there is no point wasting your money on something more expensive. Slán

I purchased this Phillips digital TV receiver prior to the digital hook up date in the area i live in - i was unable to use the receiver untill the hook up date 22 July - when plugged in the TV gave of a buzz which was not there prior to the digital hook up. Contacted Jewell Bros four times but received no reply! Claimed under the Amazon guarantee but have been turned down because of the time gap ! Even tho this item was supposed to have a 12 month guarantee. Amazon did not answer my questions re supplier nor the supposed 12 month guarantee - very dissatisfied !!

I had high hopes with this purchase but it has proved otherwise!I cannnot manually fine tune its scan mode.It always insists on defaulting to BBC Wales & not BBC North West. The result is no BBC channels are received with any clarity.I have stuck it back in it's cardboard box as the Philips website was of no help either.I have reverted to the old Freeview box.Open to offers!!
