I bought these to try and keep the sound down to help me sleep. Since wearing them I no longer have been woken up by the emergency services' sirens, drunk people shouting in the street, the washing machine and my neighbours clattering about in the kitchen at all hours. They don't cut out all sound i.e. if you have the television on, you will hear some sounds (mainly bass), albeit in a very muffled way. They are comfortable enough to wear in bed, and I haven't found they put too much pressure on my face so I can wear them for long periods - a problem with previous ear defenders. Unlike other cheaper ear defenders, they don't have bits that stick out on the outside of the cup which get caught on things (e.g. pillows when you are trying to sleep!).

Very comfy and superb muffling qualities. I'm a drummer and was looking for some comfy ear protection (hate the plug type ones)as I was starting to get a bit of tinnitus. I was worried that they'd be too good and I wouldnt be able to hear what I was playing but they take out just the right amount of high frequency noise and my drums sound great through them. So, in short, if you're a drummer these are brilliant for practice and miles cheaper than the specialist drummer headphones you can buy.

I got the Optime II becouse my old Peltors fell apart; (After 26 years and hopping around the world), Great bit of kit, good price for the product you get. Still as good as the milatary ones I replaced them for. As i still world hop, should have gone for the fold-up pair!

perfect for pigeon shooting
