Product Description

Product Description

This is a children's story of an orphan girl, born in a workhouse at the time of Queen Victoria. It was written to give a child an idea how people lived 150 years ago. Peggy is a happy child who enjoys helping others less fortunate that herself. She is about 10 years old and has run away from the workhouse to try and live her own life. Peggy, through her kindness, helps Mr. Sharpe when he falls in the street and is badly injured.
While she is helping and caring for him, he realizes how much he would miss her if she left. He owns a haberdashery shop and decides to take her on as an apprentice, which would have been quite normal in those days. Both their lives are now transformed.
A vicar and his wife call in the shop and think they recognize her. They say she is so like their long lost daughter and insist they take her home with them. After much thought, Mr. Sharpe agrees to a trial weekend with them. It is only while she is there she realizes their true intentions, so she plans her escape!
