I rent a room whilst working away during the week and didn't want to have to buy a TV. The room had an external aerial, I bought this as it was well priced. Everything I needed was in the box including the adapter for the aerial to fit the tuner. Plug in device, connect aerial, insert disk, click install PC TV, follow instructions. Within 10mins from connecting, all the free view digital channels found and playing happily on my lap top. Job jobbed! Simple to set up and select a favourites list so you don't have to tab through channels you have no interest in. Have not used to record, just used for viewing live broadcast.

I had an Elgato EyeTV DTT stick that, due to its bulky size, I kept knocking out of the USB port on the side of my laptop. Eventually some of the solder on the inside came loose and it now no longer picks up signal.
This PCTV 74e tuner is an absolute bargain for a replacement. It is recognized by, and works immediately with, my EyeTV 3 software (Mac OS X), rendering an excellent picture. At this price, I picked up two! The other will go on my Mac mini that'll be used as an HTPC.
The adapter that converts the device to use a standard co-ax input from a rooftop aerial is reassuringly heavy, and connects firmly to the USB device. The tuner gives off a mild blue glow when plugged in, but it's dim enough not to disturb.
NB: don't be fooled by manufacturers who say that USB Freeview tuners work with those dinky little mobile aerials they supply - no-one who has any experience with USB tuners ever expects those to work. Don't buy this unless you're providing a good, strong signal.
Otherwise: don't miss out on this bargain price - you won't beat it on eBay or anywhere else!

Really it is a good device with good lock , but it needs a top roof antenna or a good antenna (GOLD plating) to be a complete TV Tuner solution.,its a good device in open area...

TV - Dont count on it
As I do a lot of travel abroad and quite frequently I am in areas where there is no broadband I thought that this would be the ideal companion to bring a long with me. Read more
