I am sorry I am unable to answer this correctly, I am avoiding downgrading to W8, I will probably be trying Unix, the drive does however work fine with Windows7

Not sure Chloe, did you ask the seller? As it's just really an expanded memory I would take a chance and get it on the basis you can always return it if it's unsuitable.

Googling the question seems to indicate that there are problems. However I have just plugged my drive in and tried it and can confirm that it works just fine on my (desktop) PC - exactly as you would expect (provided you write enable the disk!). Just right click the drive in 'Computer' and select format from the drop down menu. I purchased this to transfer midi files to our church clavinova.
