Does not do what it says on the box,

This review is from: PC Tools Spyware Doctor with Anti-Virus 2010, 3 PC Licence (PC CD) (CD-ROM)
I recently purchase the above item, it arrived on time with the packaging damaged. I installed it and my computer crashed. I then re-installed in and my computer now runs very slow. I have taken it off my computer and now it runs fine. I do not believe that the software is any good. It states it has email Anti-virus included yet when you try and start it up you are transferred to another web site to pay for the e-mail antiviurs. I would not recommend this progamme to anyone very disappointing. Others out there are much better I have downloaded a free edition for trial of Super antispyware which does the job much better and I am thinking of upgrading this as PC Tools does not impress.

Spyware Doctor with Anti Virus 2010,

After reading some ecstatic reviews on the web for this product I was excited to get it loaded onto my PC. Apparently Spyware Doctor finds nasties that most other programmes leave behind.Firstly, after installation my whole PC hung. Okay my 1GB of RAM is fairly inadequate even for Windows XP so I'll not blame PC Tools for that. After reboot Spyware started and then could not connect to the Engine. I googled my problem and found I was not alone. Advice included operating the programme in safe mode and then deleting folders, entries in the registry and then re-installing. Mucking around in my registry and operating in Safe Mode is not something I wish to risk or expect to do after I've installed software that is paid for and designed for Windows XP/ Vista & 7. So I didn't. What I did do however was disable it from the system tray and then enable it - worked for me. I then thought I'd better update the database. I tried several times but each time I was told there were errors downloading certain files and could I try later. Not really. I don't know about you but I want my paid for programme to work straight out of the box. I then noticed that my anti-virus subscription was showing as inactive - curious because this version comes with Antivirus 2010. I googled this problem up and found I was not alone but could not find a satisfactory answer as to how I could make it show active. I then went for the all important system scan. This is after all the point of the programme. And I have to admit the scan was quicker than other programmes. It was super fast and found plenty of adware, trojans and trace cookies which were easily removed. This is my first experience of PC Tools and I am not overly impressed. There are plenty of free programmes that will do most of what Spyware Doctor can do and more importantly does not involve you having to google up advice for getting them to work.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?)
This product made my Sony laptop unusable. This was shortly after a clean install of the operating system. This may or may not be due to lazy programming. The benefit to detrement ratio is not good. Sorry, I don't like this product.
