I was skeptical about this monitor initially due to the bad rap Asus was getting for their PA238Q model (backlight bleeding and screen uniformity issues). I am, however, happy to say that my experience so far has been exceptional and this model appears to have none of the issues predominantly reported on it' s predecessor.

The packaging contains almost everything you could ask for: Both European and UK power adaptors, VGA, DVI and DisplayPort cable (oddly, NO HDMI for some reason...), USB hub cable, user guide and a nice cable tie. The monitor itself contains ALL input connections, including a USB hub powering 4 USB 2.0 ports. Very useful for gadgets like webcams or bench table pc like mine. The stand is one of the best I have ever seen, allowing smooth tilt, pivot, swivel and height adjustment functions while keeping the monitor firmly in place. The no nonsense design (matt black finish on the bezel and no glossy surfaces, good old buttons for the OSD menu) is indicative of this monitor' s main purpose being functionality above all else for the user. It also features onboard stereo speakers, which are decent I suppose for what they are. Good thing here is that they do not spoil the monitor' s front view as they are installed on the back. Props to Asus for that design choice.

I bought this monitor mainly for the features and honestly, the stand itself would have been reason enough for me, but this is supposed to be a detailed review :P
The image quality is excellent, sharp and crisp and the Anti Glare coating is not very aggressive. Therefore, color reproduction is very accurate and the monitor is capable of displaying light grey up to 254 (255 being total white).

After researching around i decided IPS is the way to go. This one is pretty good value, as the 24" version of this monitor is almost double the price. Also if ur looking at the PB238Q chances are u'v looked at the PA version. Two main differences are PA has advanced colour controls and the PB comes with speakers.

Speakers are ok for casual use. Though if u play games or enough a lot of movies and music u'll want to invest in some speakers/headset. It also doesn't come with a headphone socket which is annoying as i had to get an extension cable to reach my PC's one.

Comes with all but HDMI cable, though display port also sends sound so its fine. The monitor speakers are pretty naff, though fine for casual use.

The monitor surprised me how wide screen it is, but quickly got used to it, and now even prefer it as it works well with windows 7 snap fitting (when u drag windows to the side of screen). I didn't think of it at the time but 16:9 is almost double wide as it is high.

Picture is great and you don't get that annoying discolouration at the top and bottom when ur not looking at it straight on. Definitely worth using Lagom screen setup website.

Few negatives are the buttons are completely invisible while using in the dark. It could do with some backlight buttons. Another thing while using it in the dark is that black seems pretty bright. I mostly this when watching a movie with the lights off. When the film fades to black it got a pretty powerful glow to it. I think its acceptable and with a bit of light this is completely unnoticeable.

It still gets 5 stars as its such an improvement over normal screens while remaining competitively priced.

I spent some time trying to decide on a monitor for photo and video editing - eventually picked this one because of good colour reproduction and reasonable screen brightness uniformity. The screen is matte but not too strongly textured so it does not have too much effect on the image when working close to the screen - obviously not quite as good as a glossy screen used in ideal lighting conditions - but who has ideal lighting all the time ? Very pleased with this purchase - plenty of connection options also. No built in speaker - but built-ins are usually not very good anyway.

I bought this monitor as I plan to study Industrial design next year. Compared to the cheap 11.6 inch, 1366x768 TN panel on my HP DM1 laptop, this is in a league of its own. All of the colours show really well and it shows clear gradients instead of having a few pixels of the same block colour representing seperate colours. From the brief time I've had it I've done a couple of hours of graphic design work. It's so much easier seeing what I'm doing on this monitor. The blacks are dark and the whites are bright.

The swivel, raise and tilt features of the monitor are amazing. If I ever get a 27" 1440p monitor, I plan to have this monitor next to it in a portrait position running at 1080x1920. This resolution makes it much easier to make documents in portrait mode. The measurements on the edge of the monitor are really useful to help tell the actual size of the documents before printing. The viewing angles on the panel are really good and the anti-glare coating doesn't seem to refract any light coming off it.

Asus have got rid of all of the problems with the PA238Q, such as the backlight bleeding. I can see no evidence of it what so ever. It comes with VGA, DVI and Display Port cables; a 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack cable for the onboard speakers (which I haven't used and I don't expect many people to); and a USB A to USB B cable for the powered onboard USB hub. If more than one input devices are plugged into the monitor at the same time, it is relatively easy to change the input.

I ordered on Saturday January 4th from Bora Computers via Amazon. They dispatched it on Monday 6th by DHL express delivery and it arrived on Thursday the 9th. Good service from the seller

5* Product. One word of warning though. If you have a shallow desk that backs right up to a wall, the panel will sit about 20-25cm away from the back of the stand.
