I'm on my third shredder. They were typical home type things, the first lasted a couple of years the second only one. I finally bought something a bit more up market and thought I'd better look after it. Anyway, I bought some Swordfish lubrication sachets. I decided that I wouldn't use one a month but that everytime I had to empty it the first thing I'd do was to run a sachet through the shredder. Other than the price I'd no complaints at all.
9 or 10 months on I needed some more. I looked around and spotted these. WAY cheaper than the Swordfish ones and obviously worth a try.
Now I'd always (wrongly) assumed that it was a plastic packet with oil impregnated paper inside. It turns out that they're both just a plastic packet with oil inside. The reason I know this is that when these turned up and I compared them with the Swordfish ones I had left I couldn't believe the similarity. Yes, the printing on the sachet was different, but the actual sachets look exactly the same and I just had to cut one of each open to see. Yes I know curiousity killed the cat, but honestly I'm convinced these are produced on the same machinery as each other. They have exactly the same marks and perforations on each sachet. Maybe the oil inside is different? I don't know.
It actually cost me more in postage than for the cost of the product but it still worked out at half the price. And I really can't tell any difference. I don't mind paying for quality, and often you really do get what you pay for, but in this instance I suspect I've got a bargain.
