I bought this as we had loads of paper hanging around.
Tore up loads which filled up a large bucket and sprinkled sawdust on top, then filled with water.
Left for 4-5 days while I awaited the arrival of the press.
It came today, so I half filled another bucket with warm water and scooped some of the mixture in to it, stirred with a very small garden fork until it looked like porridge, then added more of the mixture, stirred, then more, stirred until I had a bucket of slop.
Scooped some into the press, gently squeezed, result one brick!
Got 10 bricks from one bucket of paper.
Now drying out. while more paper is soaking.
The sawdust at a 1 to 3 ratio (my own recipe) is meant to make it burn hotter, we will see.
The press itself is good.
I have read reviews on here saying the sides bow outwards when squeezing the mulch, well yes I imagine they would do if you behave like a gorilla while doing it, take it slow and steady and mine did not bow.
This is an item which needs a bit of planning, you need to be soaking paper a few days before you start. You need to do this outside as it is messy. Use a good quality bucket not a cheap thin brittle plastic one as you will bash it around while stirring to break the bits up. I have read you can use a electric drill and a paint stirrer but electrics and water do not mix so avoid this!
Would I buy another one?
Of course!

After years of seeing these advertised I decided to buy one to test it out.
Not as sturdy as it needs to be, when you press hard on it the sides bulge out and some of the pulp starts coming out at the sides.
Should be made of thicker metal

I bought this for my brother in law as they have just had a wood burner fitted. He was over the moon with this product as it is good quality and easy to use.

Exactly what I wanted, I read previous reviews they were some what conflicting however if you use carefully I think it will last a long time. It did take longer to arrive than expected but I am very pleased with the product, cheap enough too. Ive already made logs & doing some more today. I read how to make logs on the internet but it would have been good to have instructions with this product. None were included.

Not sure what everybody expects with this item to write such negative reviews. I've had no problems with the handles nor the build of the device, it's consistently produced decent briquett`s which you just need to leave for a week to dry. Does the job fine

I bought this to recycle our paper into fire bricks.

Provided you soak the paper or cardboard etc for several hours and don't over fill it, it produces reasonable bricks.

They take several days to dry out as they have to be very wet to work well in this device.

The handles aren't comfortable so where heavy gloves when using it and if you press too hard, the insert pops out at the bottom of the device. You soon learn how hard to press to prevent that happening.

I bought this as a present for my dad as he has an open fire so it's a good sway for him to be able to save money on firefighters etc whilst disposing of his confidential waste and paper. However, I was a big disappointed with it when it arrived as it came in a plan white box so it was not really suitable to give as a gift. I thought that it was just the outside packaging so I opened it expecting to find the briquette maker in another box inside, i.e. With a picture on the box and description of the product etc, but the plain white box was it - the briquette maker was just sitting there inside the plain white box. Therefore, I had to Sellotape it back up which made it look secondhand! Also, the instruction leaflet inside was what looked like a photocopy - black and white and the top page was all tatty. Again, making it look like a secondhand product. For the price I paid it is OK, had it been for my own use I wouldn't have bothered about the plain white box and tatty instruction booklet but because it was intended as a gift it was disappointing.

Basic idea good but found it difficult to remove compressed log.
The finished log is ok to burn on my log burner.
