Product Description

Horror starring Rachel Nichols and Wes Bentley. It's Christmas Eve and Angela Bridges (Nichols), an ambitious young executive, is working late before leaving for her family's holiday party. When she gets down to the parking garage, she discovers that her car won't start. The garage is deserted and her mobile phone has no signal. When Thomas (Bentley), a friendly security guard, comes along and offers to help, Angela nervously accepts his gesture of good will. Soon after a failed attempt to start her car, he invites her to stay and share a small Christmas dinner he's preparing in the parking office, but she laughs it off. Angela doesn't realise this is no laughing matter - Thomas has been watching her closely for months and his dinner invitation is not optional. If Angela wants to live to see Christmas morning, she must find a way to escape from level P2 of the parking garage.

Product Description

Angela Bridges (Rachel Nichols), an ambitious and gorgeous young lawyer, hurries out of her upscale Manhattan office on the way to see her family. She descends to parking level P2. She tries to start her car. The engine won't start. She is trapped in an eerie, underground world - a world which is inhabited by a dark and forgotten soul, who is watching her every move. Brooding in his subterranean office, Thomas (Wes Bentley) spends his days alone, isolated under-ground, watching people come and go and having little contact with, or interest in, the outside world. Except for Angela. Thomas develops a disturbing obsession for Angela. As the prospect of spending another Christmas alone becomes all but certain, something seething inside Thomas finally snaps.

How many times have you been really excited about a film, only for it to turn out to rubbish? Equally, there are times when you have low expectations and something turns out to be pretty good. P2 is a prime example of this as the premise sounds so boring you wonder how anyone could make an interesting TV episode out of it, let alone a whole film.

P2 is set solely in an underground car park and is simply a game of cat and mouse between two characters. There are only a handful of other characters but their screen time is limited. What makes the film stand out is great acting from both leads. Rachel Nichols gives her best performance to date and Wes Bentley plays his role with enough menace to be a believable villain. Also, the fact that it's set in one place gives the film a very foreboding and claustrophobic atmosphere which adds to the tension.

Overall P2 is definitely an above average horror/thriller. Its screenplay comes from Alexandra Aja, who directed the brilliant (and terrifying) Switchblade Romance. Whilst P2 is not as tense as that, it still has an unsettling edge and if you haven't seen it then I recommend that you do.

P2 does for car parks what Psycho did for showers. I was reluctant to watch it as the plot sounded pretty boring... but somehow, P2 turned out to be one of the tightest and most consistently thrilling horror films of the year.

By now, you'll probably know what it's about: Its Christmas time, and a lady (Rachel Nichols) is planning to leave work and drive to the annual family get-together. Everything takes a turn for the worst when her car won't start and she seeks help from the 'friendly' supervisor (Wes Bently). The tension begins to build...

She's trapped in the building. Nobody knows where she is. Her car won't start. The lights go out...

The whole point in me writing this review is to say: P2 is so much more than just `two people chasing each other around a car-park like idiots': It's basically an amazing, 90-minute scare-sequence. There's no time to take a breath or to get bored; all the horror and the action is brutally consistent.

Brilliantly shot and acted, P2 will scare the pants off you! Try it, you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Genre classic 23 Oct 2010

The performance by Rachel Nichols raises this well above many of its type. At no time does she do the helpless girl, or screaming useless woman part. A creepy thriller with only two main characters and almost no other cast. Sounds impossible to do but it pulls it off completely. This has the feel of a French film, though it is American. The US film industry rarely trusts the viewer, usually dealing out plot spoilers and warnings within a few minutes. This time, they have gone all European, letting the tension build and the plot take its course. The subterranean setting of the underground car park helps build the atmosphere, and adds to the claustrophobic feel of the film. Think 'Creep' without the dribbling monster. This is a situation that you can see yourself in, with no science fiction or unrealistic elements added, or necessary. For any fan of the slasher movie, psychological thriller, or victim against the odds plot, it is a must buy.
