I seem to have stumbled into becoming a collector of Part's recordings, currently focusing on choral output, though I may explore the instrumental output further down the line. I bought this album a few years ago along with the Beatus album recorded by the Estonian Phiharmonic Chamber Choir, mostly because I was looking for a good recording of the Seven Magnificat Antiphons.
This may well be a matter of personal taste, but while I don't doubt the accomplished performances , I found this album for the most part rather cold and lifeless. I think it's because the Theatre of Voices singing is too pure which made me feel that the performances were rather clinical and had no warmth.
That said, the album is well recorded, it's interesting to hear the revised version of Missa Sillabica, (The original version didn't have organ accompaniment), and the album is worth retaining for the Beattitudes and the setting from Lukes gospel recounting the story of Jesus at the house of Simon the Pharisee.
