It took me a long time to make the decision to try a paramo, many hours scouring the Web reading reviews. Having taken the plunge it is the best decision I have ever made supremely, comfortable, rustle free and 100% waterproof. No matter what the Gods decide to throw at you this is the jacket to shrug it off and keep you cosy. The versatility of it unbelievable, no matter what the level of activity I have yet to have any condensation problems, I made the purchase for hill walking but now find myself wearing it every day. Whatever you need a waterproof for serious outdoor pursuits or just commuting then don't hesitate, this is THE jacket. The only problem is I have now become a convert! Will never go back to **** tex or any other plastic bag type waterproof.

I bought this because my ten year old inexpensive membrane jacket was very tired and leaked and had worn zips. Reviews were promising but I had my doubts. Earlier ++++haus products have proved very short lived for me in terms of waterproofing so I was keen to try new technology, and Nikwax Analogy offered this. So, I've now worn it for a week in this awful wet weather and I walk on the Malvern Hills twice a day with the dog. The rain has been often almost horizontal and driving in hard. So far the Paramo Alta 11 has not leaked. It's warm with a fleece under and the hood and face covering work well for me. The zips are very easy to use and I use all the pockets to carry a phone and doggie bags and a ball and gloves and a torch, so lots of easy access pockets was an essential and many jackets seem to have too few for me. With one weeks use of heavy rain pretty much every day, so far I'm delighted. I also use the arm vent zips as climbing the hills to the Beacon cannot be done without a bit of perspiration. And they seem to help vent the jacket. Altogether it is showing great promise.

Bought my Alta II for winter fell/mountain walking as I had to wear lots of layers under my Gortex jacket to keep warm. What a brill bit of kit. I now use it from around Sept/Oct to March/April [depending on how high I am going] and adjust the amount of layers to suit. With regards to being waterproof it beats '3 Layer' Gortex/E-vent type of materials hands down. This jacket is so warm it is not suitable for general summer use in the UK unless you are going up high on very cold days. To sum up it's the best mid/heavy weight jacket on the market considering it can be purchased for well under £200 if you look hard enough.

Following a wet weather leaking jacket walk in 2011 I wanted to get the best jacket money could buy that would stand up to anything the weather could throw at it for walking in the hills and mountains in the UK. Purchased jacket early 2012 and for 2 years it didn't let me down at all. Jacket got a bit muddy early 2014 so washed it with the nikwax waterproofer and since then its being appalling and leaks a lot. Even sent it back to Paramo as was concerned that some seams may have opened they sent it back and they had only reproofed it. So now about 3 months later after receiving it back from Paramo I go on a long wet weather walk and get soaked through - its leaking again. Useless - I would expect to have reproofing a jacket every couple of months. Given it a 3 star for the moment as for 2 years it was fine - but was hoping the jacket would last me much longer for the amount that I paid for it.

I've used this jacket for about 5 years, and have been exposed many times to ferocious wind and rain.
Generally, it has performed very well, keeping me warm and dry.
Crucially, it will keep you DRY as long as you 'maintain' it; this means that periodically you need to wash and reproof it using Nikwax products. If the jacket gets overly dirty it will begin to leak at points of contact.
The fabric has a 'soft' feel to it externally, which is much more pleasant than most outdoor jackets.
I would definitely recommend Paramo waterproofs, but remember they do require maintenance.
