Format:Audio CD
The Amazon review is WRONG. The Amazon review is describing the Dreyfus Music re-release of the Oxygene & Re-Oxygene boxset (that boxset has a re-release of the original Oxygene and Oxygene 7-13 with a bonus cd of remixes (which have all been previously released in one form or another).
The Oxygene 30th Anniversary releases are FRESH re-recordings of the original Oxygene album. Jean Michel has dusted down his old analogue equipment and (with the help of some friends) have created a new recording for us.
This performance was recorded using new Stereoscopic 3D film cameras. You can buy another boxset which has the audio re-recording with the 3D DVD - but this version is just the 2D DVD version.
I hope this clears things up.

I got my copy of Oxygene 3D on 3rd Dec 2007, and watched it for the first time that evening.
The live performance DVD is good, with mainly vintage analogue equipment. Synth nerds wont be disappointed to see the usual ARP2500's, Mellotrons, Eminent 310's and the odd Moog. Although I'm not sure what a Memorymoog was doing in the set up. Oxygene pre-dates the release of that particular synth by at least 4 years. (takes off anorak)
It is filmed and edited very well. Although I struggled to get the 3D effect to work, neither did my Wife. Perhaps its our TV, perhaps it takes a bit of practice. The sound quality is brilliant, totally faultless. The viewing experience is chilled and relaxed, and very quickly you get entirely absorbed into that classic Oxygene sound.
I often wonder about JMJ's performance capabilities, noticably his solo in Oxygene Part 2 seeming to go astray, and I'm always left questioning his input into such live sessions. He seems to prefer tweeking with a his EMS Synthi AKS's rather than actually playing something. That aisde, its still a pleasure to see the godfather of electronic music at work.
There is no doubt that Oxygene, when it was originally released 30 years ago, had a huge impact on the world. It rightly deserves recognition three decades later, it influenced and inspired artists and fans alike. It still sounds fresh and original today. (I'm sure the "Oxygene" sound has kept the sales of Electroharmonix Smallstone FX pedals un-naturally high for the past 30 years).
To sum up. A really good DVD to have, with a faithful live rendition, filmed and edited perfectly, with fantastic sound. More DVD extra's would of been nice though.
For fans, this is a DVD to treasure and well worth the money.

Oxygene 30th anniversary
The video is a bit boring to watch after about half an hour, but the quality of music is excellent.It is nice to hear the music in crystal, clear sound.
