It's a joke, not a reference book 4 Mar. 2007
By Kindle Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
This original "Oxter" Dictionary was intended as an entertaining collection of unusual words gleaned from contemporary authors with some of their comments. The compiler, me, is/was not an academic so you may not want to quote the definitions in print but they were thoroughly researched and mostly based on the OED. "Oxter" is an old english word for armpit into which the book fits conveniently. Best browsed in the throne room. Enjoy!

A valuable addition to my home reference library, with an abundance of unusual words set in context through examples of usage by outstanding writers.

It's Great Book!! 14 Feb. 2009
By Jess J. Weiss - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
I was a coworker of Pete's back when this book was published and many of us read and autographed his first copy off the press. He's being modest, it's a great collection of unique and often humorous or bawdy words. He did do exhaustive research, it's only now with the extensive resources of the Internet that I've been able to find other definitions and references to many of the words he compiled.
