Bought this as I have a pair of oxo good grips with nylon heads, I much prefer this one, though it is not to say that the nylon head version is poor. Both sets are very good and well worth buying, it is just personal preference that I prefer the silicone head version to the nylon head version.
The tension is slightly greater with the silicone head tongs, maybe because they are newer but they work well and are easy to use. Had a cheaper pair and the head became loose the oxo ones are well fitted. The advantage the silicone tongs have is that the silicone encases the metal whilst the nylon head tongs have nylon head fitted to the body which in time may eventually become loose (although this is yet to happen after two years of usage.

Very good tongs - I was particularly after the "lockable" ones as the non-locking ones have a very annoying habit of springing open and falling off wherever they're placed. These are comfy, easy to use, and so far haven't melted!
There are much cheaper versions out there though, as you are paying for the Oxo label (hence 4*).

I now have a few Oxo Good Grips products and have been very pleased with all of them. I already have the longer pair of these tongs but with the metal grippers which are good for BBQs. I specifically wanted these to use in non-stick pans. For instance they are ideal for turning bacon in the frying pan. As they are quite short they are probably not as useful for use on the BBQ.

tongs
These tongs are brilliant as they lock closed. Makes it much easier when washing up and also storing. Worth the money, definitely.
