4.0 out of 5 stars The Oxford Spanish Cartoon-Strip Vocabulary Builder 17 April 2009
By Spider Monkey HALL OF FAME TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
`The Oxford Spanish Cartoon-Strip Vocabulary Builder' is pretty much as the title describes, Spanish cartoon strips to improve your reading skills and vocabulary. Each double page spread has one page with the cartoon strip and the facing page has translations of key words in the text, key structures/phrases, as well as additional words and phrases that may be relevant to the text. There is also a Spanish-English glossary at the back. The cartoons are quite humorous and get progressively more difficult as you go through. This is a fun way to start for those new to reading Spanish and you will see improvements come quickly as you work your way through the book. If this is a little advanced to start with I recommend you start with `Spanish a la Cartoon' by Albert Small, which has a similar layout but not in a cartoon strip format, he uses single cartoon pictures. Overall a good place to look as you progress in your Spanish studies.

A great insight into common lingo, fell in love with Agrapina. Great verb practice and shows what's really going down with street talk,I looked at this book some years ago when I was a beginner,i am into my third year now and I do think that this book is for students with some experience, hard work most definatly but very rewarding, master this book and you wont go wrong,

4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of vocabulary 25 Jan 2011
By Begoña
Format:Paperback
I'm Spanish and bought this book for my partner who is Scottish. It contains lots of vocabulary and it's a very enjoyable way of learning. It's a good book to take anywhere because you don't need to carry a dictionary, all the needed words to understand the cartoons are there, translated in the next page.
I would recommend it, specially if you have already learnt the basics.
