This is one of my son's favourite books. He was on this reading level a few months ago and I bought it for him as he likes non-fiction. Now he's moved up a couple of levels I still find him reading this by himself frequently. His topic this term is Adventure and explorers are part of it. He seems inspired and fascinated by this book and it has brought about many discussions relating to history and how things used to be. It's not riveting for an adult but for a boy interested in the world it's an eye opener as to how dangerous and exciting adventure can be.

Great subject; boringly written. Didn't even bother trying to read it to kid. Donated it to library. advise against it.
