About the Author
Professor Mullaly received his PhD in 1983 from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Social Work; his Masters from Dalhousie in 1972; and his BA from New Brunswick in 1969. From 1997 to the present he has been in Australia, serving as the Head of Social Work Unit at the Victoria University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia. he was previously a Professor (1991-97) and Founding Director (1975) of the Department of Social Work at St. Thomas University.
OUP published the 2e of Mullaly's Structural Social Work in 1997. This book was originally an M & S book (1993). Bob has also written A Calculus of Social Planning (U of T Press) He has regularly contributed to a number of high-profile scholarly journals, such as Canadian Social Work Review, Social Work Education and The Journal of Progressive Human Services. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

There is nothing wrong at all with the dictionary itself.
The presentation of the themes; the drawings, colour and fonts, made using the dictionary engaging and interesting.
The problem is that it is an American Oxford product, so that -quite naturally - all references are US based!
As an English teacher of English(!) I wish that I had been warned that this was an American product!

Excellent source to study language ( intermediate level)

I was a teacher of English in Ukraine and I always used well-illustrated and informative books working with kids. This is a good example of such book! I will strongly recommend it as a good source for kids!

great for learning English

I'm an ESL teacher, and I've had two Russian-speaking students request this book. It's well laid out, and the illustrations are clear and colorful. I don't read Cyrillic, but the other reviewer mentioned a mis-translation; hopefully such errors are few. The book is very well made. In some cases, I felt that the English words were more European than American, but still understandable. Overall, a great tool for learning tons of English words on your own.

Wide array of scenarios

There are 168 pages of different scenarios pictured. Each item in the picture is tagged with a number. The numbers are listed on the bottom of the page with the English and Russian spelling. So, it helps if you already understand how to read Cyrillic letters.
The only thing I'm not 100% sure about is the Geography listing on page 124 has an incorrect Russian Translation for South America. They listed it as Þæíàÿ Àôðèêà - South Africa. So I don't know if there are any other small mistakes like this since I haven't gone through the whole thing yet.
Other than that, this is a good choice.
