Other major figures such as Chaucer, Milton, Donne, Wordsworth, Dickens, Eliot, and Auden are treated in depth, and the story is brought right up to date with discussion of living authors such as Seamus Heaney and Edward Bond. The contributors: J.A. Burrow, John Pitcher, Philip Edwards, Brian Vickers, Isobel Grundy, Claire Lamont, Andrew Sanders, Bernard Bergonzi, and Martin Dodsworth.

About the Author

Pat Rogers is the DeBartolo Professor of Humanities at the University of South Florida. He is author of numerous books, including Grub Street (1972), and editor of the Poems of Jonathan Swift (1983) --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

This book is a must for teachers of English literature or those who love to know all the details. Pat Rogers has included information from Beowulf to the 20th century. I use this book to supplement textbook information for my students. This book is an excellent resource for historical, biographical and literary information. This is the one book I must have on my bookshelf.
