This handbook cotinues (after 3 years) to be my trustworthy companion at work.
It is a concentrate of ENT knowledge, and given its tiny volume, you can always carry it around. When I first bought it, I was not an ENT sho yet, and now, as a Specialist Registrar, I still consider it a precious knowledge "pearl".
Definitely, it takes a lot of effort and long days and nights of studying to become an ENT specialist, but the Oxford Handbook of ENT is a valuable arm to carry with.

This is a good superficial guide to ENT, but does not provide the hands on details you come to expect from the oxford series. The operations listed are very limited and only a broad outline is provided when compared to the Oxford handbook of urology for example. These handbooks are never a replacement for textbooks, but should provide signposts and triggers for things to consider when approaching common clinical problems - something this book does not achieve as successfully as others in the series. I think an upto date version is due.

Not enough to revise for exams and not practical enough to use 'on the go' for SHO's, often leaved me thinking - 'but what do I DO when this happens!!!'
