Product Description

Book Description

All you need to know about clinical Haematology - in your pocket.

Product Description

The Oxford Handbook of Clinical Haematology continues to provide the essential core knowledge needed in modern clinical practice for the diagnosis and management of patients with possible disorders of the blood. Major advances in the specialty have been reflected in this thoroughly revised new edition. Essential knowledge is covered with the main differential diagnoses, along with relevant investigations that will help the junior doctor to arrive at a definitive diagnosis. The management of the patient is provided in a way that allows the junior to initiate treatment whilst waiting for review of the patient by a senior member of staff. As with the first edition, the new edition of this Handbook will have wide appeal and readership amongst senior medical undergraduates, junior doctors and trainees in haematology, residents, interns and fellows, family doctors, intensive care staff, and specialist nurses. NEW FOR THIS EDITION: Two new Editors; new colour design; inclusion of guidelines for anticoagulation therapy and thrombophilia investigation; thorough updating of diagnostic methods and treatment and sections dealing with blood disorders in childhood, both malignant and non-malignant; inclusion of photomicrographs of blood films and radiological material where relevant; protocols revised to high standard; relevant web site addresses provided where available.

This book is essential for anyone studying Haematology. It doesn't provide understanding or great explanation but is an amazing revision tool. It provides you with all the essential points and facts in a comprehensive manner that will outdo most revision flash cards.

BRILLIANT HANDBOOK WITH GREAT IMPROVEMENTS OVER THE YEARS.INVALUABLE FOR HAEMATOLOGY CLINIC AS WELL AS SPECIALISED HAEMATOLOGY CLINICS (MYELOMA,LYMPHOMA,HAEMOSTASIS..CLINICS)
I FOUND IT USEFUL FOR TRAINEES,SPECIALISTS IN HAEMATOLOGY AS WELL AS TO A MEDICAL STUDENT WHO LIKE TO EXPLORE THE FIELD OF HAEMATOLOGY.
IT IS USEFUL ALSO FOR QUICK ANSWERS IN THE WARDS OF HAEMATOLOGY & STEM CELL TRANSPLANT UNITS.
I BOUGHT THE VENYL COVER EDITION & HAD A FREE SOFT COVER EDITION SENT TO ME FROM A DRUG REP. WHICH I FOUND IT LIGHTER TO CARRY & MORE CONVENIENT.
3RD EDITION CARRIES GOOD DEMONSTRATIONS & COLOURED PLATES OF BLOOD & BONE MARROW FILMS BUT I THINK IT NEEDS TO CHANGE ALL THE BLACK & WHITE FILMS TO COULOURD.ALSO NEEDS TO DO COLOURED INDEX & KEY FACT BOXES AS IN THE 8TH. EDITION OF OXFORD HANDBOOK OF MEDICINE.
FINALLY IT IS A VALUE FOR MONEY & INTENT.
