This dictionary is the product of a collaboration between two extremely eminent publishers, and combines the best of each. Quite simply, it sets the standard that other English-German dictionaries will wish to follow.
As well as the usual contents of a dictionary, it also contains useful charts on the political structures of English and German speaking nations, as well as sample letters. Furthermore, it incorporates the recent changes to the German alphabet, whilst still providing the 'old' traditional German format.
The dictionary is easy to follow and extremely thorough, and would be beneficial to students and professionals alike.

For non-native speakers of both sides this very carefully organised work gives a hand to linguistic questions of various kind. Furthermore it offers the most common phrases and proverbs and eases translations as well as it avoids mistakes concerning linguistic equivalents.

Not only is this the best German dictionary I have found. It's also the best English dictionary. It contains more words than my Oxford dictionary of English. In other words, when I see an English word I don't know, this is the book where I will most likely find it's meaning.
Of course, there are numerous excellent online dictionaries these days, but I still find it very convenient to have this book on my bookshelf and I use it frequently. I can imagine that the newer editions are even better.
