About the Author
Gillian Averis BVMS,MRCVS is a practising veterinary surgeon who has been involved with gundogs all her life. She breeds Weimaraners under her Sireva affix, and has enjoyed considerable success in the show ring. Awarded the Top Breeder award, Gillian has bred numerous Show Champions, and Weimaraners from her kennel have been awarded Top Dog, Top Brood Bitch, and Top Puppy titles. Two home-bred Weimaraners also won Best Bitch at Crufts.
Gillian, who judged Weimaraners at Crufts in 1999, is also interested in the working side of the breed. Several of her dogs are trained to work during the shooting season. She lives in Yorkshire with her group of 20 Weimaraners, plus Sussex Spaniels, German Shorthaired Pointers and Labrador Retrievers.

Ideal book for anyone wanting to get an insight into this breed, an absolute must for anyone thinking of getting a Weimaraner, It's the only book we give to new owners purchasing one of our puppies.

Gill is my weimaraners' vet and this book reflects her friendly, down-to-earth advice and expertise. My dogs love visiting her; she knows them well and cares for them. The book taught me much about how to handle this breed - they're not easy. It was practical and simple.

Very good book. Its short enough to read in one sitting but has enough information to last a lifetime.
Very well written, concise and to the point using simple English. She never covers the same issue twice and does not go into unnecessary detail.
