From how to select to how to introduce the puppy to your home and then train it. Sensible straight forward advice. As a result my family was able to select the type of Westie most suited to our lifestyle. It is an american book but dont be put off as it is written in such a easy style that the narrative is easy on the eyes. Not too much detail which can be off-putting, more of a users guide that a mechanics manual. Top marks for the new owner, especially the first time Westie owner.

A great deal of invaluable knowledge, in layman's terms. An easy read. Highly recommended as a "Must Read" before buying a Westie pup. I felt I had gained a lot of relevant information and understanding before buying our first puppy and putting it into practice straight away meant a well adapted and house trained pup within weeks.
Still find it an invaluable book to review from time to time even though our pup is now 1 year old.
I had never even heard of crate training but it is certainly an excellent way of training and ensures your pup feels he has a safe environment, even when he doesn't need to be crated anymore!

This little booked is packed with everything you need to know before and after you've bought your Westie. I haven't found my Westie yet but when I do I know what to ask the breeder and what characteristics to look for in my puppy to make the right choice for my family. I covers how to prepare for your puppy; what things you will need to buy, how to care for(grooming, feeding) etc. and much more.
This is a must for Westie lovers !

Bought this as I suffer slightly from allergies and wanted advice on a dog that doesn't moult. The book state that all dogs moult to a certain extent and some Westies moult more than other Westies, so it all depends on which you get. Good advice and I shall therefore buy a Poodle instead.

The book is dated and not what I was looking for having just got my Westie. It is the kind of book I would expect to find at the boot sale. Having said that I have only read a little as it just doesn't capture my interest. I am now looking for a an up to date book on this breed.
