5.0 out of 5 stars A Little Box Of Big Wonders 26 May 2011
By The Wolf TOP 100 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
13 & God are en extraordinary hybrid ensemble made up of bits of
German band The Notwist (Marcus and Micha Acher and Martin Gretchman);
American rap duo Themselves (Adam Drucker and Jeff Logan); keyboard
player Dax Pierson and ex-Subtle member Jordan "Antonionian" Dalrymple.
(Numerous other friends and associates add additional strings, brass
and woodwind). Their album 'Own Your Ghost' is nothing less than wonderful.

Their music is happy to straddle genres and hops from stylistic lily
pad to lily pad like the most free and happy frog you ever heard!
Electronica, funk, hippie-hearted folk, rap, psychedelia - it's all
here and more besides but is never any less than wholly coherent.

If you appreciate Hamburg's Lali Puna it is likely that you will find much
to enjoy here too. The beats are crisp and hypnotic; the instrumental
arrangements imaginatively conceived; the vocals always entertaining,
whether flowing in gentle harmonic eddies (as in the lovely opening
track 'It's Own Sun') or racing like a manic hare on a sunny spring
morning (the mercurial rapping on 'Death Major' is a stunning example!)

Other highlights include : the crunchy layered confusion of 'Et Tu',
all swampy voodoo and shuffling fidgety rhythms; the impossible-to-sit-
still-to magical Latin clatter of 'Sure As Debt' and the simply beautiful
melodic invention and steady pulse of the captivating song 'Beat On Us'.

Enchanting Stuff!!

The CD artwork (I love the brown paper insert!) deserves a mention too.

Highly Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Contender for best of the year 10 Aug 2011

This is a wonderful album. If you like Doseone or Markus Acher, you will want to give this a listen. I don't feel like vinyl is the best format for this album. The dynamic range from the CD version gives it so much more depth. I like vinyl for collectability, but this album is better in digital.
5.0 out of 5 stars Rivaling Their Debut 16 Jun 2011
By Eric C. Woods - Published on Amazon.com
This one of the most exciting releases for me in awhile. 13 & God's self titled debut was one of my favorite albums of the decade, and roughly a decade alter they finally have given us a followup. It's full of beautiful textures, and everything you would expect from Themselves and the Notwist.

Fans of Anticon and Morr music alike will love this album, highly recommended.

13 & God's first album - titled 13 & God, is in my top 5 of all time favorites. The follow up comes in very close and makes my top 20 list at least. Definitely worth the funds so I highly recommend it.
