NME, 18/7/98
Girls On Top are absolutely no frills, no pissing about, no clever words, basic as fuck, kick ass punk rock.
Girls On Top could eat The Donnas for breakfast and Sahara Hotnights for brunch.

About the Artist
1998 saw the appearance of GIRLS ON TOP on TV as the fictitious band 'Trash' on Kavanagh KC. December 1997, the CD EP on the G.O.T label was released, featuring the cult classic "Barbie is a smackhead". Along came Camden's Nana records with a vinyl compilation of female artists (Spy 51, Gertrude, Some Sonic) and G.O.T's cottaging anthem "Boys meet". 'Ovulater', the tasteless CD LP, also on the G.O.T. label, was spawned at the end of 1999, and kicks off with "Fuckhead". It features the X-Ray Spex inspired, "Head in the oven", an on-stage fave - the hard and heavy "Monster baby", and the seedy slavery of "Trainee sex-god".
2001 G.O.T. went wild live with the Celtic Bones, The Parkinsons, 999 and Emergency. Also Charlie Harper's birthday party at the 100 Club. GIRLS ON TOP finally made Noo York City in August for a 4 date tour including CBGBs & Don Hills and so impressed the local punks, freaks & groovers that they made the cover of NY Waste magazine and a live video is to be broadcast on a Manhattan cable channel. The band has now landed a deal with Riverside Records and will be releasing their debut album Ovulater in March 2002.
