Product Description

Product Description

This title offers a hugely entertaining, inspiring even, look at life's issues, big and small. It features dedicated mailing and e-mail campaign to targeted media and publications. Have you ever felt that you're slogging away in a job you don't enjoy to buy things you don't need to impress people you don't like? And that sometimes, self-help books are really no help at all? If so, Nigel Marsh knows just how you feel. In "Overworked & Underlaid", the best-selling author brings together a collection of anecdotes from his recent home and work life that have given him pause to stop and think. Candid and inspiring, this book will make you laugh out loud as it tackles topics as diverse as work-life balance, sex in marriage (or lack of it), parenting, death - and even dog ownership. With disarming humility and self-deprecating humour, this hugely entertaining volume makes a refreshing change from all those self-help books that claim to have all the answers.

About the Author

Born in Plymouth, but now living in Australia, Nigel Marsh is a best-selling author, a successful (mostly) businessman, and a former stand-up comedian.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Nigel Marsh's first book, Fat, Forty and Fired, was better. However, this book is still an entertaining and thought provoking read all the same. Looking forward to Nigel's next book, whenever that may be.

Lifechanging ! 1 July 2011

Stumbled upon Nigel's speech on TED Talks and which made me want more as i am struggling to simplify my life right now. I loved it from beginning till the very end. I always felt like i'm a freak or something because i don't agree with the mainstream career-thinking crowd, and this book just made me even more confident about what is and what is not important in my life. Thank you, Nigel, so much !

Not very good!! 19 April 2012

After reading and really enjoying Fat, Forty & Fired (FFF) I was keen to read this second installment from Nigel. However, this book just doesn't quite work. FFF has a clear purpose and is really interesting whereas this book just seems to be written for the sake of it. The tone is very condesending, the chapters are disjointed (its like a list of topics has been ticked off each chapter) and reading this I actually just think he sounds like a know-it-all, egotistical man suffering from severe short man syndrome.
The book has no clear direction, purpose or story- its just a series of thoughts and beliefs from the author's head onto paper, and lets be honest- its not that interesting. I managed to drag myself through to the end but don't recommend that other readers bother.
