Experience overlanding without leaving home!,

For someone unable to travel because of the ties of small children this book was a great bit of escapism without leaving the sofa. I have images of countries that were previously just names on a map. I have had a taster of the highs and hassles of adventure travel, such as choosing your own dinner from a herd of goats, coping with a swarm of angry bees and the variety of approaches needed to get through a border crossing. A great read and if you like bloke-ish banter then give it an extra star.

An enjoyable read for anyone, but especially if you are preparing for, considering doing, or have already done some overlanding. I fell into the former category and learnt a lot from this book ....felt like an experienced overlander on my first trip!The book gives a great insight into life on the road, in addition to a taster of travel through Africa and South America. It also gives a different perspective on overland travel as it is from the crew's perspective rather than the participants .... this book clearly demonstrates how extreme these perspectives can be at times!! A great read!

Overlanding presents the reader with authentic and deeply idiossincratic impressions of such an intensive experience as cruising Africa an Central America as an expedition leader. Without concentrating the narrative "around his belly button", Tim English certainly depicts a very personal experience, where the reader doens't lack wit and sharpness of multi-analysis. After all, human. The speech is dynamic and multi-tonal, definetly very pleasant and able to reach very different kinds of interest.
