Image of Motörhead

Motörhead's overwhelmingly loud and fast style of heavy metal was one of the most groundbreaking styles the genre had to offer in the late '70s. Though the group's leader, Lemmy Kilmister, had his roots in the hard-rocking space rock band Hawkwind, Motörhead didn't bother with his old group's progressive tendencies, choosing to amplify the heavy biker rock ... Well what can i say! this is just the ultimate Motorhead album. its by far the best album the band has ever done. I do like all of the new stuff aswell but to me this is the ultimate Motorhead album. Fast, raw, gritty and mean! Just pure brilliance. I would recommend this album to anyone who enjoys hard rock, metal or who simply love loud music! Please buy this album before you even consider buying any of the other Motorhead albums because this is a true example of what Motorhead are all about.

5.0 out of 5 stars Overkill !!! Oh yes 1 Mar 2009
Format:Audio CD
Well what can you say about this Album that hasnt already been said !!. He first Album from Lemmy and co for the Bronze label, and what a start it was. I remember standing in the local Record shop and all of a sudden the drum start to 'OVERKILL' came thundering from the speakers !!, bought it there and then, and it was on green vinyl, which i still have. There isnt realy a bad track on the Album. All the stage fav's are here,'CAPRICORN', 'NO CLASS' etc, but for me the best track is 'LIMB FROM LIMB', just total Motorhead magic.
I bought the double cd version of the Album, with disc 2 having differant mixes of 'LOUIE LOUIE',' TEAR YA DOWN'amongst others. You also get 3 tracks form the '79 Peel sessions and '79 BBC In Concert, all worth listening to. If you havent already got this Album, its a must.

5.0 out of 5 stars The De Luxe 2 CD Expanded Edition. 26 Aug 2008
Format:Audio CD
CD 1 has the album we know and love so well just as it was originally released.
CD 2 has 3 different takes each of 'Louie, Louie' and 'Tear Ya Down,' one of 'Too Late, Too Late' and 2 of 'Like A Nightmare,' which might be boring for some, but it's a mink-lined-pot of honey to the avid Motorheadbanger.
And as if that is not enough to slake your thirst, there are 3 tracks recorded for The John Peel Sessions in 1978, and 7 tracks from Motorhead's BBC Live 'In Concert' appearance from 1979.
A cardboard slip-case completes this release, along with the booklet filled with copious repros of memorabilia from the era of the sessions. Nurdle-Nardle-Noo, as Lemmy might say.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Motorhead album by far 22 Mar 2006
Format:Audio CD
As someone who saw the amazing Overkill tour at the Newcastle City Hall I can only say that this album blew me away when it was released, and it still is as good today as it was then. yet to be bettered by Motorhead or any other heavy rock band. Ace of Spades was good, but not this good and everything since doent coem close. Classic Motorhead of the highest calibre building on the superb rawness of the debut album "Motorhead". The artwork was a real killer at the time too...

5.0 out of 5 stars Motorhead really arrive... 4 Feb 2006
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Motorheads debut album was a mix of new stuff, a few of Lemmy's old songs, and covers. This is the first real Motorhead album.
Overkill is still a ferocious album today and must have come as quite a shock to many back in the late 70's. It's chock full of classic rock n roll tracks played with heavy distortion and often at breakneck speed. Essential.
