Product Description

Product Description

There are an estimated 370,000 compulsive and problem gamblers in the UK, and some 6.6 million in the US. Both numbers can easily be doubled considering that for each compulsive gambler there is at least one concerned "significant other". Numbers are rising annually, particularly in the UK, due to the softening of gambling advertising laws, an increase in casinos, and the popularity of internet gambling. In the USA, many industry insiders predict a return to internet gambling (stopped in 06 by banning deposits to internet casinos). The recession may also make some people more willing to take risks with their finances. This book analyses how and why people - from those with high incomes to the ordinary housewife or struggling student - gamble compulsively, and looks at how to stop.

From the Author

I wrote this book and developed the unique Gamblersaloud approach because I myself needed a different method to cure 20 years of compulsive gambling, to what was available when I stopped. Due to living and working in two different overseas countries, a meetings or regular counseling approach was simply not feasible. I tried other books on the market but found that most were not even written by compulsive gamblers and those that were offered controlled gambling as an option to not stopping totally. I knew that for both myself, and my wife, total, lifelong abstinence was the only option.

All of the techniques and methods contained in my book formed part of my recovery. The book is easy to read but treats the reader as an adult rather than a child. Overcoming Gambling is also very clearly designed to help those closest to the problem gambler, both to aid the gambler's recovery, but just as importantly, to help their own recovery. It is designed to give everyone involved a better understanding of a gambling addiction.

I bought this book after a period of gambling andit was a great help, it really makes you think some of the points are there to achieve this, it is straight forward and to the point in it's aims and objectives, the author tells it like it is and he does not make a great deal from the book so he is genuinely trying to help not make money, please buy it and keep by your side, Paul...

Mr Mawer makes no bones about the fact he has the required, in-depth, experience to write such a book! He has also done something that, if not unique, is highly unusual; he has come up with an original way of looking at a common problem and finding an apparently simple and effective way of releasing the addict from their addiction. His book is structured logically to help the gambler work though the problem step by step, it is clearly written and therefore easily understood which is no small consideration given the distractions that the readers will be subject to whilst working through it. The process certainly works as Mr Mawer makes plain. I would not hesitate to recommend this book to anyone trying to gain release from their gambling affliction. Seize the moment and make a change now!

It really works 10 Mar 2011
By Kay
Format:Paperback
Ok to be honest I brought this book as a second thought, it was one of them, it will be like all the rest thoughts, but I gave it a go.
As soon as I started reading it I felt, this is a man that understands. He is not telling you what to do or making you feel small, he really knows what he is talking about.
I had been covering my addiction for years, telling half truths. But this gave me the courage I needed to come out with the truth not only to my family but to myself.

If you want to stop, really want to stop, dont gamble on other books bye this one today, you won't be sorry.
