Product Description

Product Description

This month TER are proud to re-release the Original London Cast Recording of 'Over My Shoulder - The Jesse Matthews Story'.

Written by Richard Stirling and originally staged at the bijou Jermyn Street Theatre in London, 'Over My Shoulder' is a musical journey through the life of Jesse Matthews. An International star of stage and screen who became known as "the Dancing Divinity" at the height of her fame in the 1950s, Matthews story was one of rags to riches. From a large family in 1920s Soho to Broadway star with the show Evergreen and its film adaptation Over My Shoulder and finally to becoming the voice of Mrs Dale's Diary, the radio smash hit of the 1960s.

In this heartfelt tribute to Jesse Matthews, the songs recall her discovery by a theatrical impresario, her journey to Broadway, her marriages, the scandals, the divorces and the breakdowns, as well as the high glamour, golden moments of her career.
