...and try to guess what you're listening to. You'll be amazed at the unlikely noises Watson has captured from a diverse array of the world's wildlife (and for recording geeks, annotated with details of tape deck and microphone used in each case).
Whatever your next music CD purchase was going to be, save the money and get this one instead. I guarantee it'll give you at least as much listening pleasure!
This album is an absolute classic- the variety of sounds which Chris Watson captures is truly astounding. I came across this work after reading a student's dissertation on sonic arts- and the opening track, of a dozing cheetah, is pure magic. Chris Watson does alot of work for the BBC- so keep am ear out for his contributions to wildlife documentaries and sound portraits.

Chris Watson, former member of Cabaret Voltaire and sometime member of The Hafler Trio left the 'music scene' and reappeared years later with a full-time job doing location recording for wildlife and nature programmes on TV for the BBC in the UK.
This release is also location recordings, closely miked animals such as cheetahs, monkeys and whales. Just look at the track listing and you know what is recorded, but somehow Chris also manages to pull out the unexpected - it's not every day you get to hear these animals from so close. These are superbly detailed recordings, you can feel the breathing of the cheetah.
Buy this for the superb recordings, don't but this is you want another CD of whalesong - this is the real thing!
