Product Description

Book Description

Presents an account of a leading playwright's success, marriage, divorce and personal encounter with the legal system, malice and 13 years of litigation. The author tells his tale of success with the play and film comedy There's a Girl in my Soup, his divorce and then the subsequent entanglement in a web of legal double-dealing. From the perspective of a person representing himself in the legal system, he tells of his appalling experiences of the legal processes, of judicial incompetence and lawyer's stupidity.

From the Publisher

A summary of reviews:
"Written with all the brio with which he wrote There's a Girl in My Soup." Libby Purves, Midweek, Radio 4 "Touching and impressive, an horrific indictment of British justice." Prunella Scales "Compelling." The Times " I enjoyed Outrageous Fortune immensely. Its wonderful mix of the personal and the legal makes it hugely gripping and very moving." Sir David Hare "This no mawkish apology but a gripping and at times farcical condemnation of legal practitioners, at all levels, and of all persuasions." Helen Osborne, Sunday Telegraph " A harrowing tale of one man's long - and ultimately loseing - struggle against the legal system and its representatives. One would like to think that what Terence Frisby went through couldn't happen today - but can we be sure?" Marcel Berlins, Legal Columnist, The Guardian, Law in Action, Radio 4 "Hilarious, terrifying, compelling and true. One hell of a read." Don Webb, The Stage

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable anti-establishment read, 16 Feb 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Outrageous Fortune (Paperback)
This book has a real go at the legal establishment, and rightly so. But I never thought a book about divorce could be so entertaining. Quite unputdownable, with glimpses of the theatre, and some wonderful thumb nail sketches of some quite awful barristers and judges. Fantastic read!
