5.0 out of 5 stars The Outlaw's Woman 14 Sep 2002
By Nancy - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Dena is a wonderfully strong, educated, enlightened woman living in a strict small town farm community in the late nineteenth century. She is able to rise above the local gossip, travel across country to attempt to free her man from being wrongly imprisoned, and strenuously work to keep her farm and animals. Thomas/Luke, who she loves, is sensitive and caring, the perfect man to stand by Dena and awaken her passions.

The Outlaw's Woman is intelligently written and researched with much local color, depicting a vivid image of living in a rural German community in the 1870's. Sights and smells come alive. The foods make your mouth water. The chemistry between Dena and Thomas/Luke is palpable. Minor characters and subplots are interesting and humorous. The corn bag heating pad adds a warm touch to this steamy romance. (Yes, a corn bag does work.)

This is a thoroughly enjoyable read with truly memorable characters. Congratulations to the author for not only writing vivid romantic scenes, but also adding interesting factual information. May Dena and Luke live happily ever after.

2.0 out of 5 stars Decent story, but lacked passion 10 Dec 2006
By B. Collins - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I agree with the other reviewers that the story was well researched and the heroine was well written. Dena's feelings and motivations were constructed in a such a way that the reader could feel for and with her. However, as a romance novel this was very much lacking. There was some longing, but very very little passion. With all of the books out there I admit that I read historical romance novels for the steamy passion and emotion. I want the scenes of gazing into her beautiful green eyes, and the descriptions of the hero aching to touch the heroine. I am not saying that I am looking for erotica, but I enjoy a well constructed romance which includes passionate scenes, not just a quick romp in the barn. Literally gals, one scene. The rest is the descriptions of longing and the dismay at the separation of our hero and heroine. It was a really good first book and was definately written from the heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Outlaw captured my heart 11 Aug 2003
By christi - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Gripping from beginning to end, The Outlaw's Woman is not only intensely intriguing, it is written with a historically-enriching and entertaining hand.

An imaginative and unpredictable love story, the knight in shining armor has a shadow of murder and law breaking looming behind him, and the woman in love is a widow who has never known love before.

The story -- woven with intricate, accurate details of the period and smothered in the most incredible detailed passages --unites two unlikely lovers, ignites passion, and keeps you wondering just how the story will end.

The great thing about it is that you never want the end to come. Identification with the characters is unavoidable--if you've ever loved someone or had doubts about your own capacity to love, this story will resonate through you.

The dramatic chase and unexpected twists add surprise to this romance ... after all, a wanted man on the run can't stay with his woman forever...or can he?

It will entertain you, educate you, enlighten you, inspire you, keep you on your toes and make you want to fall in love over and over again...even with an outlaw.
