5.0 out of 5 stars Reads like a thriller 30 July 2011
As ever with Tony Thompson's books, a gripping and highly informative work - I read it at one sitting and would say it's a must have for anyone interested in the UK / 1%er bike scene.

Tony is a professional writer and it shows in the way this is written and paced.

Fascinatingly, the way he tracks the protaganist's story through from early days in a regional MC the Pagans and how the club then merges with others to form the Midlands Outlaws MC and then join the AOA to become Outlaws MC England has great parallels with the plot of Heavy Duty People, a fictional account of a UK MC member making a similar journey.

If anything though, the real life version is more dramatic than the fiction.

Thoroughly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic read 5 Jan. 2012
I have just finished reading Outlaws ! Wow what an incredibile look at the world of bikers, I had no idea that there so many gangs and indeed the role that Hells Angels play in the whole game, told through the eyes of Daniel "snake" Boone, I found myself really liking the guy, this does not mean that I condone violence or such like but there was a real difference to way the bikers behave from those who seem to really have a love of bikes and engage in brawling with other gangs , to those who take it out to the public..
It is so well written, once again Tony Thompson brings you into this world with ease he is able to describe the situations very well that you feel you are being told the story personally.
I can not recommend this book highly enough if you want an exicting read than this is your book, I must say now I view, patches with a different eye, before I thought it was a pattern now I realise everything has true meaning, it goes to show just what is going on around us in a way quite scary !! but I guess there are many things that could come under that title. I have read other books by Tony Thompson which have also been very good, I would also higly recommend
The Infiltrators: The First Inside Account of Life Deep Undercover with Scotland Yard's Most Secret Unit
Bloggs 19: The Story of the Essex Range Rover Murders
If you enjoyed Outlaws you will almost certainly enjoy these as well.

Buy read and enjoy !!

4.0 out of 5 stars Outlaws; informative or fun? 24 Dec. 2011
Interesting book in as much as it contains a lot of Brit biker stuff that I can personally relate to, as an awful lot of biker/1%er stuff is about our American brothers and this, in the majority is not. A good read, funny in places with biker humour, written to T Thompsons usual high, and informed standards, I would recommend it to anyone thats into the lifestyle or just wants to learn more. Cheers

5.0 out of 5 stars Ourlaws:inside the violent world of Biker Gangs 5 Sept. 2011
Daniel'Snake Dog' Boone began His long and, sometimes painfull history within a Motorcycle Club in a small village in WarWickshire England. He joined his first club at the young age of ninteen. Little did he know that over the next twenty or so years his club would grow and develop into one of the major concerns within England.
This book offers us some Great English club history as we feel Boones reservations; we feel his concerns, we feel his pain.
This story claims to be a true story, but it reads with the emotion of a novel.
Great Job!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating and Frightening 30 Aug. 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I've read a few of Tony Thompson's books about gangs, and was curious to read his new one, about biker gangs. I'm not especially interested in the subject, and the only other book I've read was Hunter S. Thompson's classic, and that was a long time ago. This author didn't seem to hang out with the biker gangs like the good Doctor did, but instead has written a fascinating account of the development of the Outlaws gang, through some obviously good insider sources. It reads like good gripping fiction, and there are some frightening scenes of violence. These aren't exactly pleasant people to spend time with, but like one of ther earlier reviewers, I just couldn't put it down. It's a bit like driving past a road accident - you don't want to look but you can't help yourself.

I also liked the way the book built to a gripping climax, again like good fiction, and a very vivid account of an encounter in Amsterdam. I won't spoil it by explaining what it's about, but it's brilliantly written, and leaves you with a very haunting image.

And three cheers to the publishers for making it available at a decent price on the Kindle.

2.0 out of 5 stars Incorrect Facts 27 Oct. 2011
By Gypsy
In This book, Mr Thompson misrepresents information taken from our website [...]. He also describes The Sons of Hell MC, Manchester as defunct.
The Sons of Hell are this year, (2011, celebrating their 41st anniversary with many more to come. This then broaches the question, if this fact is wrong how much more of his work is pure fiction rather than factually based?

5.0 out of 5 stars different take on the biker stuff 8 Mar. 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
the book is are okay for a wet uk weekend, as you will gather we get plenty of rain in Manchester... when you want a quick read to fill your time, instead of riding your bike.
If I was 18 again I would get the rags on, ring the lads up, score a bag of herbs and few cans, pack the old lady on the bitch pad and go out for a run... but i'm not 18, i'm 56 the diabetes won't let me drink. the doc says the herb will send me madder than I am.
And any how she's 16 stone now not 16 years old, the bikes out of petrol and I have to get a 2nd mortgage to fill him up.
my water proofs are a bit tight round the middle. (very tight says a voice from the kitchen)
AKA ' Old beetroot belly' like the mere cat on TV.
so I will sit in and look at the nasty weather the UK has to offer....
And dream about a well spent youth.
Doris wheres my skins. nope the king sized Iv'e made me sen reet fed up.
