I bought this bag for my daily commute to work as I had grown tired of my backpack and the sweaty back it caused. Whilst this bag seems adequately waterproof it is, however, lacking in almost every other vital criterion.

It's small, far smaller that the advertised 16l, I believe that this is the bag capacity if one fills it righ to the top, which would inhibit you from closing the thing and therefore negate any waterproofing function. I could just about fit in my small laptop, power adaptor, lunch and maybe a spare rain mac. If I ever wanted to transport more to work I would need to resort to the aforementioned sweaty backpack. Not good.

It's noisy. The fastening clips for the pannier rack are non-locking and as such the bag is prone to jumping around on the rack over rough road surfaces. Given Britain's aim of becoming the most pothole ridden country in Europe this was a particular nuisance. I was never too concerned that the bag would come off, as there is a velcro strap with which to secure it to the bike. However, the noise from the clips was quite audible to those around me and also meant I was riding in fear that the aforementioned laptop was being shaken to pieces.

Due to these issues I went out and bought myself the Ortlieb 20l city back roller. I found it for £35 brand new on ebay, only £10 more than this bag. It is a comparative revelation. The Ortlieb has the advertised capacity when fully closed and so the difference in size when comparing the products side by side is stark. The Ortlieb also has an ingenious locking clip system which secures the bag to your pannier rack, increasing security, reducing noise and all whilst still being simple to remove.

Bought this as my first ever pannier bag back in March/April as I've not long returned to cycling and had quickly discovered that rucksacks are a pain.
The fastening system is adequate but fiddly. The bag does not lock to the frame as such, but there is a little velcro strap which helps. Either way, the bag has never fallen clean off...quite.
Can't complain too much about the size. Everything I need to carry fits, although I don't take a laptop to work. The internal pocket in the lid is useful for keeping wallet, phone etc.
The biggest problem I've encountered is that two of the four rivets joining the bag to the upper part of the mounting frame popped off in quick succession on a long ride the other day, leaving the bag hanging off and looking like the remaining two rivets would also pop off at any moment. I carried out a bodge-job repair with shoelaces in rural West Sussex but now plan to replace the Outer Edge bag with something a bit more robust and with a handier fastening system.
I have been using this bag daily for a 10-mile round-trip commute since March (now June), and one or two longer trips a month on weekends, so I feel it should have lasted longer.

The clips are REALLY strong, to the point where I could not dis-engage them easily from my rack. As a commuter I wanted to remove twice a day. The adjustable retaining hook that stops it banging about does not stay put, so it bangs about against the rack. It is waterproof, but the rivets that attach the bag to the mount are poor quality, mine failed after two months, possibly overfilled a little. The adjusting screw on the adjustable hook pulled the bolt through the plastic, which was not strong enough to hold, tightened as it kept moving in transit and banging about. The bag construction is good quality and waterproof, but frame mounting is poor and defeats the object of a pannier. For small loads and to be left on the bike all the time, will do the job. For commuters, spend more money.

Good waterproof bag with plenty of space and great strap, however the clips can be a little thight and hard to get on and off the rack. This was not a big issue as I knew the bag definetly wasnt going anywhere. The main problem is the screws on the bag of the bag have come off so the plastic clip is now only held on with 2 smaller screws, the bag was not overloaded and this happened fairly soon after purchase. Disappointing:( Willl send back and hope it is just a faulty bag. However the same thing happened on the yellow version of this bag a couple of days ago..
Shame as they are good waterproof bags, but clip and hold need to be looked into.

The rivets which hold the hard plastic holding mechanism onto the bag itself are useless. The rivets effectively hold the weight of the bag when you attach this section to the rack.. First one went..then the next...then the next in a 3 week period with daily use. Since its down to the last one now the bag is useless! I might have expected this if it had been 5 quid. I know its not 'top of the range' but I expected more than three weeks usage!

The pannier is way smaller than the 16lt advertised. When extended might be 12lt top, but then it can't be closed anymore with its cap that is fixed at the smallest position and it will stand out of the rack by more than a half of its size. Also does not fit in my rack. Pros: the however material is good for its price. Good packaging.
